But he’s in form, and form matters a lot
As is Saka. He's been one of the best players in the league this season, and arguably England's best player since (and including) the Euros.
For me, Saka is nailed on to start at the moment, as are Kane, Jude and Rice. The question therefore is whether you move Foden inside and drop Henderson, drop Foden, or drop Rashford.
Henderson is the least interesting of those three, but he stabilised the midfield when he came on against the USA, and was excellent against Wales. He gives licence to Bellingham to push higher, and that makes him dangerous.
Foden is, firstly, and incredible talent, but he also keeps the ball better than Rashford. He won't burn people with his pace, but he'll make the right decision more frequently.
Rashford can be electric, and I'm really happy to see him back to form. But this is a game we should be trying to control. If we try to play pace against Senegal, they'll sit deep and launch it over the top. Henderson, Saka and Foden give us control which Rashford doesn't. But he's a great option off the bench.
Right call imo. Although I'd argue that, if we get through, Rashford should start against France to give them something to worry about in behind.
