Fighting Frost

Beyond sticking an old blanket over the windscreen and changing the battery once weather starts getting colder if its getting on a bit?

Start the engine, pin it to the limiter, defrosters on, huge burnout while stationary, dump the bottom end, get out, torch it, walk away, get into my own car.

Fling cold water all over the windows and quickly scrape away any remainder, get in and drive away, two minutes maximum.

Turn the heated front and rear screens on and the quickly scrape/wipe the side windows, By the time I've done the side windows the front and rear are fine and I'm good to go. about 3 mins and I'm ready to leave for work.

Good old Mondeo with heated front screen/mirrors/nozzles and PTC electric heater. By the time they've done their thing, I've been round the side windows with de-icer spray and the heater has started blowing warm. The only thing I wish it had was a heated steering wheel!

The hilux has a pwr heat button that increases the revs and heats the cabin by either an electric element or burning diesel. There's varying opinions and the manual only says where the button is.

But it works. Toasty and defrosted cab in 5 minutes.
