A quick question, how come you have gone for the e6400? If you can stretch then get the e6600 or the e6300 will clock just as good if not better.

Price difference between the E6300 and E6400 is £13 - Does it not make more sense to get the E6400?

Please correct me if I'm wrong - i'm out of touch with what clocks well etc at the moment.

It's £20 difference between the e6300 and e6400 for just 200Mhz odd more. You could clock that e6300 just as good if not better than the e6400, the £20 could go somewhere else in the system. Of course if your not overclocking then the e6400 would be a better choice, but IMO having a Conroe and not clocking it is like telling the Pope not to pray.

The one you've chosen.

Ah ok - just keep getting more and more confused each time I post a spec.

Just want confirmation that what I've chosen is going to work well together.

Fed up of chaging specs every two minutes!

The spec will kick @rse, just go for it. There are good components there and there will always be alternatives, but you'll have no issues with the above and you'll be a very happy camper.

You will always get people telling you different things, I'm drawn towards the e6300 as I have one and it clocks like a beast, better than my mates e6600 which is £100 more :D

£13 as I'll be picking them up locally :)

so what you are saying is that the E6400 wont clock as well?

Put it this way - I'm using a stock A64 3000 at the moment and that more than does the job.

The 6400 is easier to clock that the 6300 because of the higher multiplier, so I'm not sure how GazD arrives at the statement that the 6300 will be at least as good.

Its swings and roundabouts really. I was tempted to buy the E6300 a month or two back, but in the end, I thought 'sod it, E6600 it is' and I really can't fault it.

Everyone has a different opinion on E4300, E6300, E6400 and E6600, and at the end of the day, its personal preference imo :)

Going to go with what I've put in the OP guys. If I dont buy now I'll change my mind and think of the money I could save :p

No worries, that spec will be awesome, like I said I'm biased toward the E6300, I'm sure there will be people who will tell you to get the E4300, it's down to personal preference.
