Final Fantasy VII REBIRTH (Remake Part 2)

30 for graphics, 60 for performance with weaker visuals.

As I mentioned earlier, it's actually very consistent with both so there's not much in the way of annoying frame drops etc.

DigitalFoundry have a tech video that's a good watch.

No frame drops here that I’ve noticed so far. My tv says VRR is on though so maybe that helps ?

Even with it off it should be pretty solid tbh, the DF tech review mentioned as much.

Edit: I've changed my initial DF/video link post to include both videos, apologies but I'm a tad knackered and not long home from seeing (the fantastic) Dune 2.

I'm loving these 90's/voodoo visuals personally.

Before anyone claims I'm taking biased shots, I can spin around and find something that looks like the above (compression issues aside) almost anywhere that I look. The game is gorgeous, with some issues admittedly but still stunning unless you make a point of eyeballing each and every thing.

The story, gameplay, and audio are outstanding in of themselves.

The game is stunning in some places. A bit muddy in others. And yep the textures are hit and miss. Doesn’t really detract from the gameplay for me. But I can see why some have issue with it.

Not really a spoiler as it’s in the original but..

””CHAPTER 6 SPOILER””I’ve just hit Costa del Sol. Damn I love this game. So much nostalgia. The boat ride, while totally different to the first game, was much more enjoyable with the card tournament. And red dressed up as a soldier was just excellent

going to wait for PC port for this, got burned with the awful 30fps and issues from FF16. Watching the DF video, just can't believe a game at this cost has so many issues

I wouldn't be so dependent waiting for a PC port, considering they are hit or miss already with previous ports. If you have a PS5 just buy the game and enjoy it

Even with me having 2 gaming PC's. One with an RTX4090 and other with 7900XTX, I'm not sitting around waiting for a hopeful PC port in 3 years time.

And if you are going by DF reviews, look at their Final Fantasy 7 Remake PC Tech Review. They said it was an disappointment.......so pick your poison? :p

I just finished all of the intel sections in the grasslands area and beat the Midgardsormr, saved after entering the mithril mines so I'll be moving into the Junon area soon I imagine.

Absolutely loving it so far, I hadn't really intended on doing everything in the first zone but I kept convincing myself to do one more area on the map.

Ha I've done exactly the same! I'm going to do the same in Junon, I utterly love this game, it's a perfect remake of a perfect game (so far!)

Yep. Immensely enjoying my time with it. They’ve changed just enough to keep it fresh for OG fans, but kept everything in for the familiarity.

Counting down the hours til I can play it later !

I'm going to every area and doing everything I can see to do, all the side quests and such as well, may as well as I don't plan to re-play again for a while (may do all the games again ahead of the 3rd and final installment).

I 100%'d the first area but I'll redo all that on the second run, I'm here mostly for the story and main fights so I'm pushing through most of it.

Just left Corel... some wow moments for sure. Utterly sublime game, not without a few faults here and there. It's a little bit too... anime in some places for me, I hated XVI but at least it had very little in the way of the ultra extravagance this has. A small criticism from me, I'm loving the game overall.

General non-story "spoiler" about the robed men, or rather an observation:

They seem a bit... overused? In the OG I thought that they were used few and far between really and only hinted upon, but here they're in your face quite a lot. They were more scary in the original, like something really ominous but here they're almost here for the journey kind of thing.

I’m on chapter 9 now, has been a lot of fun so far. 100% the first 2 outdoor areas, as I don’t plan on replaying it.

While it’s not perfect, the amount of effort, care and attention that has gone into this is astounding. I’m honestly amazed that they even decided to go ahead with the remake, and feel incredibly fortunate that they did.

I’m not a FF fan, and only played the OG FF7 at the request of a few friends back in college, 3 or 4 years after it came out. It became one of my favorite games of all time, but Rebirth is something very special indeed.

I am enjoying it but find it a bit puzzling that they made the open world areas so big - yet there are hardly any mobs to fight. Just long stretches with just mats to pick up or the occasional point of interest.

Presumably it wouldnt have taken much to add a few more mob packs in - so am assuming it was a design decision made a round pace of levelling or something. Its a big world but they have made every attempt to give tools for travelling thru it fast - almost as if they realised it was all a bit empty.

A bit weird - but I can forgive it that as the game itself is fantastic.

I've just got to Corel, really enjoying the core gameplay/story stuff.

I kind of feel they had to go with the side quests/Witcher 3/Horizon Zero Dawn style map to give a point to the open world/towns.

I've got like 20 hours in, and I'll get many more simply because I'm going to try and 100% the area's and then sell the game on once finished.

It's very optional though, which I like. I'm never confused as to what is needed or isn't and that's rare for open world games like this imo.

I've been waiting for a piece of music to hit me like Midnight Rendezvous did in Remake (still listen to that regularly on Spotify), and I think the music at
Gongaga jungle
might be on its tail... so emotionally charged. Love it.

Midnight Rendezvous for those interested:

Fort condor, level 4, that was a pain!

Start with a elite enforcer on the right and an elite vanguard on the left, then a cleric followed by loads of trebuchets in the middle, spawn clerics to heal and enforcers to protect, once the dragon appears use an elite ranger and carry on spamming trebuchets, then send cloud in to finish everything off
