I realise there's a FF7R Intergrade thread, but this is still a different game in the form of a sequel so I thought I'd open a new one.

I've got this downloading now, 144.3GB with an installation size of 155GB so quite chunky just to forewarn.

While I'm not a fan of PC Gamer, there aren't many performance reviews out there as of yet, but the port while a little barebones seems promising and in a much better state than the first game was on launch:

I'm looking forward to getting to enjoy the game properly this time around, as much as I loved it on the PS5 the console simply lacked the grunt to do justice to it.

Had quick ten minutes blast just to get a feel on performance.

2080ti, 7800x3D @1440p, max settings, DLSS as AA, dynamic res set to 100% max, 66% minimum.

The intro area ran pegged at 120fps, walking around Nibelheim was around 80s, then out into the wider mountain area was up into the 100s.

Seems to run pretty decently and feels nice and smooth.

Also downloading - will also be trying on my steamdeck, although suspect I may need to moonlight it (although my main PC isn't exactly beefy! RTX2060...).

For anyone wanting the FF7R bonuses for uploading your save file, be it due to not having the game on PC or owning it on Epic while having Rebirth on Steam:

  1. start FF7 Rebirth
  2. go to Folder %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE\
  3. rename EOS to Steam
  4. go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\Steam
  5. Copy the long folder name (this is the hash of your Steam Profile ID) <-- copy the name, not the folder - via right click - rename
  6. go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE\Steam
  7. Change foldername here to the copied folder name (hash of Steam Profile ID)

100% Save file download of both the main part of FF7R and the Intergrade DLC if needed:

You can manually create the necessary folders if necessary and it should still work.

Good to know, should be easy enough to get 120@4K with DLSS then with a 4080S

Is this out now... Will buy this soon and give it a go.

Just need to finish up a couple of games then I'm on it :D

I'm playing through the intro/flashback part now.

5800X3D
32gb RAM
4070

Everything high with DLSS @ 4K, dynamic scaling max 100%, min 66%, solid 60FPS so far so I imagine you'll be absolutely fine tbh.

Awesome, soon be able to play, at least I've kept myself busy trying out the new DLSS in games

Nothing special technically, but then I didn't expect a console port like this to be. The point is it's playable and I'm only noticing a few minor things like some pop in and annoying vignetting.

Same here, the pop in is the most noticeable for me but it's not game destroying and I'm sure patches will improve things further.

Damn sight better than it was on the PS5 that's for sure.

Japanese developer and patching? Did I enter the twilight zone?

Funnily enough they did release a few for FF16 which did improve things for many, shocker I know!

Rebirth already runs a good deal better than 16, although they use different engines in fairness.

Steam Deck verdict?

Not looking good, a lot of complaints about performance on there despite it being Deck Verified.

I'd hang fire and see if things are improved with updates.

Mind you, it could be random Steam plebs trying to run the game at high settings for all I know.

I decided to play remake because I just saw on PC there's a boost option so I can pretty much just play through the game for the story (again). Also never played Intergarde.

There's a story mode for Rebirth but I'm not sure what it does exactly, if you cba with the combat etc.

With lots of compromises it'd run - heavy dynamic res and low textures.

Remake ran pretty well, enough that I used SD native with tweaks rather than moonlight. Tonight for Rebirth I ended up using moonlight as the drop in quality was a bit too much for me - perhaps some of the SD whizz kids will find a good compromise setting though (I'm not patient enough to try loads).
