Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Been waiting a long time for this one, Rebirth is a special game for me, so much that i'm taking a week off work, have rest of this week and next week to play it, otherwise i would never finish it .

Reached the open field area after about five hours of playing, so far the only thing i'm disappointed about is some of the flashback story scenes, they didn't play out the way i imagined they would, otherwise it has been amazing, can't wait to kill it tomorrow!

The biggest tip I can offer is to not burn yourself out by doing everything in every zone, I never intended to at first but got drawn in and it caused burn out by the time I got to around the Gold Saucer area. You can eventually backtrack very easily, so pacing yourself absolutely helps a lot, I found mixing main story progression against side content really helped. The world is absolutely huge, and impressive in that it's essentially seamless without loading between zones shy of fast travel or events. It's amazing to explore and see but it's easy to get lost in things that can unnecessarily cause FOMO if you're that way inclined.

I'm in first village now doing the intro, seems to go between 90-110'ish fully maxed out at 4K with DLSS set to 66% (so quality) on 4080S + 7800X3D, I am using the new preset J tho so could be bit higher with older present E, VRAM is also roughly 12.5gb

No @mrk in here? Beta testing time bro. Get in here!

Don't worry, no mfg here man. You won't be missing out!

so if I wanted to play all of FF& on the pc (that's released). What do I buy? There's a bunch of editions out now

Timeline that might help:

Final Fantasy 7 (original was 1997)
FF7 Crisis Core (PSP exclusive prequel, plays like a mobile game of the time, only bother if you're a hardcore fan, there was a 2022 remaster)
FF7 Dirge of Cerberus (PS2 spin off game, a bit like DMC, easily skipped)
FF7 Remake (Intergrade is just the same but with the Yuffie DLC, came out in 2020)
FF7 Rebirth (Part two of the Remake trilogy, one more to go, came out last year)

If you wanted to check in, there's a double pack of FF7R Intergrade + Rebirth, you'd start with the prior and then play the newer Rebirth title.

Getting 70-80fps maxed out with DLSS enabled. Feels silky smooth on my PS5 controller :D

Performance is impressive tbh, especially given how it looks and the scope of some of the areas.

It's not mind blowing Crysis type stuff, but it's impressive and sure as hell runs far better than the aforementioned.

Forgot to mention I am on 4K by the way. So yeah, seems well optimised to me.

I'm shocked at how well it's going tbh, I've been oggling MSI OSD just to get things running smoothly, it's sometimes a touch borderline but I've yet to see it exceed 11GB so far.

Half the reason I bought a PS1 tbh.

I already had PS1 at the time. I got it for Resident Evil games and I remember one of my first ones was the first 3D Street Fighter game. Guy at the shop said, you sure you want this game? Lol. I was like yeah. Went home and realised what he meant. It was crap.
