Just tried to play this on my 60gb UK PS3 and when I got to new game I just get a blank screen and can hear it trying to read the disc.

I know the disc is okay because I had the game running on a PS2 earlier today.

Has anyone else had any problems running this on a PS3?

FFVII runs great on every PS3,

You sure it isn't FFVIII you are trying to play, there is a known problem where the UK version will not play on the PS3

Nope, I know my Roman numerals and it's definately VII.

Just bought another copy off the bay to try and I'll just sell the one I've got as I've seen it working on a PS2.

Yeah, thats pretty wierd Meths as it works on my friends too. Does the PSX compatibility on PS3 cache atall? Is there a cache cleaning method similar to 360

Just tried it on another mate's PS2 and it works fine. It stutters slightly at the start when the camera is panning around the stars and I think the PS3 can't read the disc here but the PS2 is getting through it alright.

I'll just sell it and hope someone with a PS2 buys it, got another one on the way.

If you don't mind waiting till tomorrow morning i'll hook you up. Btw, the animation at the start with the stars always stutters, i just assumed i had a dodgy disk but my second copy does it too.

I've said this before, but never had any problems at all playing FFVIII on the PS3 (40gb).

really? cos i thought they took out the software and the hardware for Ps2 emulation on the ps3 40gb? or did i miss some sort of update?

edit: ff7 is a psx game and im an idiot, sorry buddy

funny, it doesn't stutter at all for me. ps2, or ps3.
