New info released the last few days which makes it look like its going to be AM3
Soooo, ordered all the bits monday for the AMD build, arrived yesterday so I built it.
Last comp I built was about 8 years ago, so, took my time, read some manuals and did it! Few dodgy moments with the Titan Heatsink and fan (putting wrong nuts on first and then having the heatsink the wrong way round so having to remove it all again) but it eventually went very smoothly! I went for the OCZ 700w Modular psu because it was cheap, its nice, but the cables are really short. No where near long enough to route round the back of the MB, so I think I'll get some extensions at some point to make it neater.
All booted up first time and installed windows without a hitch. Thought I'd do some OC straight away to see what the chip can do. Clocked to 3.8 on stock volts, didn't go above 48c, pushed to 4 on stock and it ran prime for 40mins before it crashed so upped the volts and its now stable on 4.0 and gets no hotter than 52.
Does that sound ok? Have no internet at my house at the moment so can't actually do much with it!
