it's a nice looking & apparently good performing mobo but that's no good if you can't actually buy it which is what RizlaKing is getting at.
abit's IX48-MAX is supposed to be in UK distribution next week, when will the J&W appear here?

I don't think that's a fair question. kenofstephen may not actually be in a position to say when OcUK will actually put the boards on sale. He's just showing what the board looks like, what it can do and if customers want to wait then they can.

If Abit don't get the IX48-MAX into UK distribution channels next week, it's going to royally hack off anyone who was waiting for it, isn't it? And if they launch it with another half-done BIOS then no-one will thank Abit Netherlands for launching it before it's ready. And you would have to admit they do have a track record of launching boards with buggy BIOSes that fixed quickly after a few releases.

ASUS are always first to market with the new boards and they are buggy as anything.

I'm pretty sure that right now there are several people at OcUK trying their best to break the board or break an overclocking record and I'm also pretty certain that when this does launch it'll make a few people regret not hanging on.

well, that's what it appears that RizlaKing (& no doubt others) wants to know?
He doesn't have to say when OcUk will actually put the boards on sale as that is obviously outside his control. ScottiB said that the boards are on the way from China so an eta at the port would be at least a rough indicator.

& whilst what you say about BIOS is true it's not something that J&W are immune from either as you know yourself. ;)

Yes, I'd love to know when they'll be here too. But isn't that a question that RizlaKing and the others should be asking OcUK rather than J&W? What usually happens is that on the launch date all the guys who've been pushing to know when it's going to launch start asking "So who's bought one then?". They then wait for the test pilots to say whether it's a good 'un or not before they actually spend their money. As someone who actually buys boards every other week or so, I'm not that fussed if it turns up tomorrow or the week after:p

And I promise you they are supposed to be trying REALLY hard to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Question.

What is that thing on top of the NB heatsink? Does it actually help cooling?

Im guessing you recently employed some one from MSI...

It's an extra heat-pipe and it lies flat on top of what looks like the same structure on top of the P45-Extreme board. All the X48 boards have REALLY hot Northbridges, so maybe it just needs it to work properly.

So this is to whoever can answer WHEN CAN WE BUY THESE or shall we just forget it and buy a P45 when they come out (which could be sooner then we can get this board) or an X38. Someone somewhere must be able to give an answer. Also with that twirly bit of copper will a Tuniq fit this ok or is another cooler needed ?.

that's a mass generalisation right there, i've had 3 socket 775 Asus boards in the last year and all 3 were fine out of the box including the Maximus which i'm running now.

NO motherboard ever released has been totally free of bugs or there'd never be a need for bios releases and yet they all have them.

are you becoming a J&W shill all of a sudden because all people want is a date for the board, if kentofstephen can't answer that then posting another irrelevant overlock with cherry picked hardware isn't going to please anyone.

all impressive/crazy reviews you see on web are done by cherry picked hardware just to fully squeeze the board, nothing else.

I would have thought it is down to oc'ers to announce when they will have the board for sale. Have you sent a webnote ? or are you just repeatedly asking in this thread.
