Final update: JW-X48D2 EXTREME

all impressive/crazy reviews you see on web are done by cherry picked hardware just to fully squeeze the board, nothing else.

which is why they're irrelevant, no user on these forums will be able to replicate those benches with their hardware.

the tech industry loves to "sell the dream" but in reality you may as well roll some dice.

look at it at the positive way,
they are just telling you how much it can do.
so if you are going to play below that "line", it should be ok logically,
that's what I think.

yes that is true

apology's for my aggressiveness earlier, guess i'm just having one of those days :(

i'll stop trashing you're thread and let the boards do the talking when they arrive in people's hands ;)

msi's solutions are also developed by 3rd party. :)

OK fair enough.

I hope you didnt pay them much... :D ;)

Well I look forward to what the other memebers of the forums get out of the board. :)

When are we going to be seeing your P45 motherboard ken? Will be interesting to see what you guys can offer and how much you can kick the competitions ass again. :)

There's a lot of negativity on these forums.

Moving swiftly on though - this board looks (in both meaning of the word) amazing. If I do upgrade to X48 this board could be the one. If it is priced well - about £10 less than the DFI, and there aren't any BIOS issues ala the P35 board, J&W are certainly onto a winner.

are you becoming a J&W shill all of a sudden

Not that I've noticed. I had (I think) the second J&W motherboard sold in the UK and I was scathing about the fact that they launched it with a poorly finished BIOS. That's why I'm genuinely pleased that they have taken their time about releasing this one, as hopefully it will be right the first time.

ASUS are a premium brand, and they charge big prices for their top-end stuff, and I personally don't think they deserve their reputation. I really want a new DFI in the UK market - a company that listens to what performance users want, and delivers it. I think J&W could be that company, and I'm prepared to give them some leeway because of the way they responded to my criticism in January - they fixed the issues and made it all work for me.

What will make or kill this motherboard is a) how it clocks when we get our hands on them and b) what it costs. If it's £165 it'll sell in single digits, but that's out of J&W's hands, as is the on-sale date, which is why I'm coming in on kenofstephen's side - you need ScottiB to tell you when it'll be on sale, because he should know.

i genuinely think Asus are a victim of their own success to a certain degree, although they did let the ball slip a couple of years back with some dodgy boards and poor service.

because they sell so many boards you hear about the problems a whole lot more than someone whose market share is much smaller, especially when so many users who are low on experience are buying them....half the time the problem is with them & not the equipment.

but their p35/x38 range are fantastic imo, i'd dumped Asus since early northwood days until my P5K-Deluxe.

as far as a new DFI, i have my doubts there's enough of a market tbh ....DFI have a great rep with clockers and even they aren't in the best financial position if things are to be believed.....with the way the western economies are heading there's going to be a lot less money available for this hobby methinks.

mortgage/food/family.....overclocking parts come way down the pecking order.

I was very interested in their x38 board but heard very little about it, I never saw them listed on the OCUK site and gave up hope, did anyone on ocuk get hold of one? Also why are the P35 based board no longer listed?

Again this could potentially be a brilliant board but I’m going to try not to get too excited until I’m sure we can get hold of them here.

I don't think that they ever went into production but evolved into this X48
Also why are the P35 based board no longer listed?
possibly out of stock?
