If your into tuning etc then that's a great deal. I'm not one for tinkering too much.... Although I am tempted by the mountune kits but it won't be before my insurance renewal in October.

This thread has made me realy nervouse about stuff... I looked under the back earlier and saw one of the rubber ball joints looked twisted compared with the other one..... Then realised I'm parked half on a kerb and how else would it keep the wheel square?!?

In all honesty you can usually tell just by driving a repaired car how well the mechanical gubbins have been sorted out - if it feels fine it probably is, if is shakes/ vibrates or bumps it's way around or things feel a little loose etc then it's time to worry. Cars that have had a good smack tend never to feel right again.

As for the chasis repairs....well I never trust them tbh, regardless of who has fixed it - that wouldn't necessarily stop me owning one (I've had repaired cars in the past, albeit at vastly less outlay than yours) it's just an additional risk

It drives straight no vibrations. Had to put the steering on standard as the sports setting felt twitchy. Might put it in comfort as you can feel every white line through the steering wheel!

Sports mode for steering shouldn't feel twitchy, all it does is stiffen the steering feel

I much prefer it to the other 2 modes.

After 2 weeks with it I gave it back to my mate. No quibbles I just didn't trust it. Every knock and rattle I worried about so for the best save the money and get something straight later in the year.

Back to the slow lane in my 1.2 clio again :(

It's cost me £40 for the two weeks so no great loss.... It's probably this thread that put enough doubts in my mind to give it back

Even if this thread put more doubt in your mind any doubt when you first get something is always a warming to get rid if you can. I always hate purchasing anything and sitting thinking "am i happy with this" simple answer is if you thinking that regardless of what it is your regretting it.

You did the right thing if you didnt give it a few months and you would have been like gollum hating yourself in a cave like garage holding your mobile phone looking at this post hating the car :D

Any chance you can ask your mate if I can rent his ST for 2 weeks for 40 quid, Cheers, Email in Trust & all that.

Haha

The £40 was what I lost in insurance charges £20 each time I changed it.

He will just move it on quickly now.

Neither of us have lost out on it so its all good.

I might just look for a straight GTI but I'm not rushing into it.
