Finally got round to playing Dead Space...

Fear: When climbing down a ladder and 'she' appears at the top as you spin around and if that wasn't enough, once you get to the bottom and turn around a ghostly figure is charging at you. Scared me pooless!

I might get dead space, not sure tried playing doom3 landed up under the desk

I m okay with painkillier and L4D and waw zombies (only cos I expect it) I don't like getting startled other wise I go under the desk :P

Hehe, yeah I remember D3. After the first hour or so I had to turn it off.:o

That review said it all, really. Just in case anyone starts with the confrontational 'oh really well what was better huh? HUH?' I'm not going to play (system shock? Bioshock? Silent Hill? Cradle level on thief 3 :p ) so don't waste your time :p

I love horror and this wasn't it, all it did was make monsters play dead and after the first time we all were on edge in case it happened again, and it did, many many many many many many times. Erm, try something else for scares now maybe? Please?

I thought this game was slightly more boring than waiting for planetary alignment to smash the queens pasty from orbit with an egg face.

I was really enjoying this game until i ran into.... ****SPOILER ALERT BELOW***

The sodding unkillable alien (2nd one) which drops into the room with you in chapter 10 when you have to move loads of boxes out of the way to get past it, insanely annoying.

BRILLIANT GAME full stop. Who cares whether it was scary or not?

In truth it wasn't really scary, not in the same way as silent hill series, early resident evils or sanity's requim. However it just had a fantastic atmosphere, adrenalin fueled story, nice graphics, great perfomance and really edgy jumpy gameplay.

+1, great game.

10/10 for atmosphere, plot, graphics, weapons, equipment and voice acting.

7/10 for puzzles and minigames.

6/10 for visual interface. Over the shoulder view is insanely stupid; looks and feels awkward and adds nothing to the game.

3/10 for user interface. Laggy mouse = epic fail, especially in fights and fast-paced problemsolving episodes. I want a character who moves when I want him to move, stops when I want him to stop, fires his gun when I want him to fire it, and points it in the right ****** direction when I aim!!!

I like the fact its 3rd person in my option, with the health status on the suit I like that, also I like the menus can be like moved around i think the word is has dimensions to it, I do find the mouse slow with weapons out as I m not sure most of the time (played doom 3) its very interesting and great game play, horror, no gory and creepy yes very :D

what I don't like is the bloody laggy mouse, its not really a horror although it can give you a surprise, the help menu can be annoying as well, also the close quarters is flawed as its impossible to punch babies as they eat your head :p

the best monster out of that is the baby, they are creepy things and sods as well

There's a fix for this...

You played the whole game like that? I feel sorry for you.

Gotta say I've not noticed any mouse lag at all in this game. I don't have any problems aiming or moving at all

I also like the angle, although it took me a while to get use to it. I think due to having a full side of your vision blocked, it adds even more to the tension when your playing the game with good speakers/headphones and you hear a hiss or something move etc. Your a lot more prone to jumping when you see the monster at the very last second lol

Wouldn't turning on vertical sync increase the amount of lag?

Maybe, but forcing it via the gfx card drivers results (on my system at least) in lag free control, using the in game implementation is what causes the lag, plus it looks really bad with it off due to lots of screen tearing because of all the lighting effects and stuff making it really noticeable.
