Just got my stuff out of storage and plugged in my gaming PC for the first time in 6 years, it worked ! My SLI'ed gtx580, 6gb RAM, Rampage 2 and oc'ed i7 940 are still doing the business, NOT.

Time to upgrade but I have been out of the PC world for a number of years and dont really have a clue where to start but trying to catch up quick !!.

Budget is around £2 to 2.5k and i doubt my old twin Dell 24" screens will be up to it so I guess a nice 34" single screen will be on my radar.

Intel preferred and I would guess at a 1070ti or 1080 may be the way to go (bang per buck?)?

Not sure of my building skills these days so maybe OcUK could build it ??

Appreciate the help and advice guys !

@duc999

Welcome back haha

Got a list that you could ask OCUK to put together , guessing would be £150-200 for them to build and cover warranty .. but features 35" 1440p ultra wide 100hz HDR Freesync monitor ( pre order though )

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,146.71 (includes shipping: £15.90)

And a pre built

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,008.07 (includes shipping: £23.10)

Wow, thanks for the quick reply and a brilliant rig. Never had an AMD setup before, is your suggestion based on performance or budget? I can stretch to Nvidia and Intel if I need to ? Homework time !!!

I was to lazy to do intel + Freesync and intel + G-sync .

Gtx 1070ti cheaper then Vega but G-sync is a hefty price then Freesync monitor ..

Intel is faster for gaming , but advantages are less over 1080p and z370 board being replaced by z390 Q3

Haha, sorry, you can tone things down by lessor monitors, Vega 54 over 64 and gtx 1070 or 70ti .
Selected i5 and ryzen 2600 to save cash as least strain on CPU at over 1080p gaming

For the first time in ten years AMD is pretty comparable to Intel.
And unlike Intel demanding new motherboards for no real architectural changes model number update, AMD is going to use current AM4 socket to 2020.
Allowing nice drop in upgrade path for CPU, which is highly likely nice amount faster than Coffee Lake.

With PSU on top sucking in heat from every component of PC that isn't exactly good case.

Depends on persons style . With In Win being a massive OEM , sure they know what they are doing .
Wouldn't of sent my old man one of these to the sahara desert if they weren't the best... How that wasn't stolen at customs I will never know haha

Cases are a mined field depending on persons tastes , could point out a stunner like the Dynamic but they'll tell you they want a Kolink £30 case as it looks cool .. haha

Ah crumbs, fair shout as I did forget to list 3 fan pack for £10... :(

@Ace Modder should be able to give any details at what ambient air temps those units fail at ??
Or drop suggests for a case :D
