Finally relised that i am being used by work

Given the current economic climate, I would suggest your first priority is to keep an income coming in. Obviously your paying the bills so your getting by. Just. That pay is not right but its better than being unemployed.

You should clear up this owed commission business by talking to your boss. It sounds most likely that the company wants to hold onto as much money as possible. Dishonest, unprofessional, despicable. What ever words you want to use; its happened now. They transferred you to anouther office rather than just making your redundant. So clearly they need you. That puts you in a position of influence. See that issue through and hold on to your job is my advice.

With the downturn in the US economy, I wouldn't hold out for a job there either. Last I heard, the housing market and money lending market was taking a bit of a beating. That means less people selling and buying houses (in part because its harder now for them to get and afford mortgages). I am presuming you were looking into continuing your real estate career over there.

i agree with keeping the postion that i am in. but with the pay being so low it is hard.

as for the commision at the moment i am lucky to get an extra £100 a month on top and then its taxed as well which never helps.

so all in all it is a shocking wage.

as for goign into a job centre the nearest one is where i live which is 20mile away whilst at work. and i work from 9 till 6. leave at 8.15 getting home at 6.30ish.

so its not easy to get into the job centre :(

Haven't had time to read all the posts, but I used to be on more than that as a part time waiter!!!
Just get a new job, right away.

Don't worry about it being difficult to get to the job centre, call in sick and make a day of job-hunting. Look online on the weekend.

Even if you get a checkout desk at a supermarket you can earn more than that!!!

I'd heard that if you had commission based pay then your base rate could indeed be less than the minimum wage. Not sure though!

That really is awful pay though - you'd earn £12k at a supermarket for example. When I used to work for Somerfield we were always recruiting

If you can find a better job leave, if not stay. That's what all job boil down too, there's no point getting worked up over it.

are there any other estate agents you can work for in the area? it seems that you're pretty good at the job so why not sell yourself around to other places and see what you can get? i agree that wage is shocking though - i would never have stuck it out this long.

Pop to the job center on a Saturday.
You could earn more in a decent retail job, not that it's a career. Perhaps look into something else sales orientated? 9K is a joke, my brother earns more on checkouts at tesco.

I think its a little short sighted to be calling for him to resign just yet. By all means look for something better OP. But you'll be lucky to find it currently.

Heres some facts:

- Your getting by. Even if barely.
- You apparently have a good level of job security. They offered a transfer to you, thus they need a person at that office and value your contribution to their business.
- You enjoy the work.
- Your developing some useful skills. You won't do much of that as a cashier.
- You mentioned the prospect of promotion to office manager. Thats some experience potential there which will open many more doors to you.

- The job market and your industry in particular is seeing a fall in growth. Similar jobs to yours will be scarce and what makes you think you'll get better paid doing a similar job elsewhere in North Devon? Would you be prepared to move?

If you can avoid it, dont waste time in dead end jobs. Its just that, a waste of time. Long term, your better off developing your employability.

mmmph doesnt the minimum wage cover this sort of pay structure? I get 250 a month and work 9 hours a week. would get 750 a month if I work 27 hours, how many are you working?

ps its part time checkout work in tesco :p

as for the above post, someone as commited like that I think will climb a ladder pretty fast no matter which job he's in.

That sounds pretty screwed up m8, get in contact with the Citizens Advice Bureaux. You should have a contract, and it should have been changed if you move from part time to full time work. A 2k pay increase for and extra 3-4 days work is pretty awfull.

They also can't just say "move offices or get fired", first they would have to demonstrate that your original job was no longer needed (for whatever reasons) then could offer you a move instead of redundancy. But it has to be done officially. There is also rules regarding moving office locations like that.

I think your being taken for a ride.

No thats true! :D

Best of luck with resolving the pay issues. I think thats your best route. But if you can get in with anouther firm and be better off for it, well thats a no brainer.

Ouch, didn't expect to see this! Don't let your boss catch you out either :p

I'd hold out for the time being, until something comes up which you can actually take! I'm on £12k a year, and I only work at a supermarket, so what you're on is utter pennies for 48hrs/week plus a mile 40 mile round trip every day. Finding a good job round here is so hard, when I left college it took me 4 months to find ANYTHING that wasn't care work, or cleaning work. Try hunting through the Journal, or maybe apply to other estate agents, as you've got almost 2 years experience now. :)

Personaly i take another route to this job mate, as follows.

Stay there for the next few montha as the house market is going up and down, ride it out and see what happens to it. Save as much as you can, i know its hard when your not being paid a lot, but evena few quid a day mounts up after a few months.

Then, when you have got to summer, some cashed saved up, get together with the others who are not happy and do what i did.

Start your own company and run it how you want it to be run. Get the info from the place your in now, learn as much as you can, then run like hell and setup a office and let everyone know your the best and you have started yourself.

The only way to make money is to work for yourself mate...
