Finally the lounge...

That looks sweet!

Those floorstanders seem similar in size to my own wharfedale Pi40's.

You'll love the projector when you get it. A 42" screen is nice but 100"+ is always a bonus!

Well, got the 360 set up today, been in storage for about a year. Worked fine first time !!

The 42inch mirai even does 1080p via component into the 15 way dtype vga connector on the tv. Guess they must have updated the firmware or something because the tech specs say it only works via hdmi. All i did was change the hdmi settings in the console setup to 1080p, the tv re-synced and the info bar at the bottom of the screen shows 1080p.

Having problems with the ati card in the pc though. Seems that if I turn off the tv and turn it back on it doesnt sync. Although if i re-connect the hdmi to the back of the pc it syncs fine. Done some reading online and it seems to be an ongoing issue with ati. Anyone got any experience of this?

I've heard of this issue but don't have it myself, what drivers are you using? You should try the new 7.7 ones.

Yep I am using cat 7.7. Perhaps it is related to hardware somehow. I am using an oldish x800xtpe. Might slap in a nvidia 7800gtx tonight and see what happens.

Well the pany pt-ae1000e arrived today :) I have it running at the end of a low quality 15 meter hdmi cable, and it doesnt like 1920x1080p over that length. Corruption, sparkles you name it. Lower resolutions work fine such as 1360x768, and if I swap out the hdmi cable with a mark grant 5 meter it works fine at 1920x1080p. Looks like I am going to have to fork out mega bucks for a decent quality one after all :( The £19.99 one from fleebay doesnt seem to cut the mustard.

Anyway here is a quick pic. Not had time to do any calibration or tweaking yet. Going to wait until the cable issues get sorted next week.

Looks awesome! I'm really surprised about the problems with cheaper HDMI cables. I suppose most people aren't running them over that distance and so can get away with cheap ones. It sucks a bit, but it'll be well worth it for a setup of your quality.

One day, one day...

ramdor if you want to pass on that cheap HDMI i will take it off your hands :)

Btw that looks great :D makes me wish i didnt rent my place so i could go to the lengths you have!

If I can get the cables out i'll send you a msg. Cant remember if they got tacked into the pelmet though. Yeah I am a bit disapointed/surprised that the hdmi isnt working over that length with those 20 quid jobbies. Hopefully a 10m mark grant cable will sort it. If not going to have to look into amped cables ... bah.

No blinds/curtains up in the lounge yet so I am waiting for the sun to go down :)

Maybe consider:

http://www.keene.co.uk/electronics/multi.php?mycode=HDHD10

I had a relatively expensive 10m hdmi cable that didn't work with 1080p. Got one from Keene and it works just fine, looks/feels better made and only cost 50 quid. I gave them a call first and got a guarantee that it could be returned for a full refund if it didn't pass 1080p. It's not a good idea to skimp on cales, but pay 100 quid plus on an hdmi lead and someone is laughing all the way to the bank.

I'm very impressed with all of it

Pc is an old'ish p4 3gig, Windows Media Center with an ati xt800pe gfx card. Running media portal though at the mo. Seems to be coping with sd dvd's no probs. Yet to try out any hidef stuff on it.
With all the cash you're spending I'd recommend spending £40-60 and getting something below to handle anything HD. These are just suggestions, there a loads in their ranges that all offload HD decoding to the GPU

Just a side note, I have a 2400PRO and there are still loads of bugs with DxVA (hardware acceleration). PowerDVD is about the only decoder that does it at the moment and it only works for H264 media, dont even try if anything you want to play is x264 or in a matroska container, just doesnt work! Hopefully the bugs can be ironed out asap as I too am running a P4 3ghz and bought the card with the intention of using Total Bitstream Offload. When it does work though its fantastic. 0-10% CPU usage playing back 1080p VC-1 content.

Cheers for the info on the media pc. I am going to go for a c2d (e6600) with at least a 8800gts in there when the boat comes back in. It has sailed off and got ship wrecked though will all this renovation. Need to be able to play decent games over the projector ... hehe :) Roll on the end of the month when the Onkyo TX-NR905 turns up !!! :)

Couple of pics from today.....
