as suggested, piece of <2mm paracord/dyneema, melt the ends add a fishermans knot - can be less jangly too.

One of the larger S-biners might do it, but thin para cord is a good shout too.

I do have some paracord, not quite as thin as that though. I've never found that ends melted together works very well or looks very good and then when you start adding knots, it's even less attractive and adding more bulk. I don't mind jangly and if what I've done stays in place and the hoop doesn't fold back, I should be OK. If not, I'll look at one of those d clamps.

I've never found that ends melted together works very well or looks very good

then remembered where I used piece of dyneema - diy covid masks , cord probably bought in Chamonix, burned with a match, alpine butterfly knot

Wasn't too comfortable with that black ring like that, it was still a bit too forced for me.

So here we go, here's the solution using these.

perhaps a screw-in d-ring would work.
