Why would people follow Mal, other than he's a nice guy who'd clearly die for anyone of them? what...........
he's a leader, he gets them work, money, food and not arrested. Where would any of the main crew be exactly if they weren't there.
AS for saying the actor is better at Villians because of ONE SHOW and honestly a show where multiple of the characters in the show went from good to evil to good to evil to good again. SO a show known for characters that arent' strictly speaking good all the time. Anyway he's been in countless shows and is simply a very very good actor whose good in any well scripted show he does. He was a good villian in Buffy, because the part was writen well and he acted the part well, not because he's good at being a Villian.
Tim Roth is notorious for being a Villian, yet one of his most famous roles he was a good guy cop. a good actor is a good actor is a good actor.
Very good series and a crying shame it got canceled, his latest stuff isn't impressing though. Dollhouse is barely passable, supposedly it was only this weeks(last weeks) episode where Fox gave him a lot more control of the show with it being heavily edited/scripted and controled for the first 5 which frankly, were crap. Its a good premise but the "roles" they have given to the lead character have been awful idea's to get a good episode out of and there hasn't been a single hint of great witty dialogue that Whedon is known for. The cliche'd tech geek, girl who likes him but he can't see it, the hurt female scientist, the cold head of the show, the security guy who puts on a tough front but cares for Echo really, the good guy cop, the bad guy cop none of who say anything remotely interesting.
This episode was certainly better, but we'll either see Whedon step it up a notch and make another great show over the next 4-5 eps, or its just a payday for Whedon and it will be more boring basic cliched crap.
THe weird thing is someone with the belated success of Firefly/Serenity, the huge hits of Buffy, Angel and some other stuff, it seems odd he'd agree to do Dollhouse being so heavily controlled by the network for 5 ep's. Surely he's "big" enough to get the go ahead on a series like this and take it where he wants?
