Firefly

And I love the idea that I'm a troll just because I don't agree that Firefly is one of the top ten TV series of all time...

You aren't, you're a troll because in every single Firefly thread you come in and start baiting people with comments like "That's it, you've woken up the fanboys..."

I loved the series but also the film although was disappointed with certain plot developments in there. I may give the entire box another watch once I finish all my Uni work next week.

Also, didn't they put it on a friday night? No show is going to do well in the friday night death slot, especially a new show that is a bit different.

Despite the poor viewing ratings I would have thought that DVD sales would have been proof that there is more than enough demand for a second series, or at least another movie (even just a straight to DVD movie).

I miss this show so much! It's actually the only TV show I have ever been able to watch and get in to properly. Every now and again I still have a "firefly marathon" and watch it from beginning to end. :P

Firefly didn't need to be in the right order, in any other series the one they showed would be the first episode and the "first" episode would be a look back in term character building ep, and it actually worked well in that order and I think was good in that it established them as cowboys/rogues and a bit mean, but that they really were good guys, then built them up later.

It didn't get great ratings as great shows often on at the very best time slots with no competition often don't do well, and every year that goes by the best shows do less and less well as reality tv and other crap stuff like CSI gets all the ratings, people are getting stupidier and you can't really blame the studio's for making TV that more people like, just wish they would still make the great shows aswell.

Dollhouse sucks because its NOT a Joss Whedon show. Dushku got cast in the show and took Joss to lunch and persauded him to come on board and direct it.

Meaning half the eps were writen, ready to go, and done by some oaf somewhere and Joss was just brought in to touch it up. However its not his directing thats so good, its his idea's and writing.

If it was his idea from the ground up it would have been infinately better, I have no doubt about that at all. He really should never have been talked into it as its by far the worst thing he's done and was pretending to be smart and witty like his other shows, but never really was.

Can only hope someone throws him millions of dollars to go out and create his next pet project, made and writen by him and it will most likely rock.

Well one might argue they already did, kind of.. in that he's now directing and most likely re-writing the upcoming Avengers movie. And as every Whedon follower knows, comics are his other.. umm, one of his passions so the project is close to his heart. Couple of links for those interested:

Whedon to direct The Avengers
Whedon possibly re-writing both the Avengers and Captain America
And as a bonus.. Whedon says he has no directing skills. Also mentions a rumour that Fillion might be Ant-Man

But I know that's not what you meant (and most of you probably already knew all of the above anyway). We need hours and hours of Whedon material in form of a TV series, preferably on cable. My other wish is Joe Michael Straczynski getting a similar deal but in this day of reality TV.. oh well.

Aside from the fact that it's a free country, if you people stop being fanboys, I'll stop pointing out that you are.

I'd love it if you could point out a fanboy post by me before your post then... or in fact what your contribution to this thread is...oh wait you can't because you're trolling.

Do you have a source for any of that? I've never heard anything like that.

In my view this like all of Josh Whedons creations was pretty poor most of the time with the odd good episode like the hospital heist but I can see why it was cancelled because there really wasn't a continuous arc to it other than the River situation and that never really got toutched upon until we saw Serenity and even that had major flaws.

Oh yeah we'll release a biological compound without testing it What a great Idea!. Oh what a surprise the untested compound doesn't do as advertised and make everyone less aggressive and now more than 1/2 the population is dead and whats stranger is the rest have become space zombies gimmie a break.

You really want to watch a TV programme set in space, for realism? Do you realise just how stupid that sounds?

What I'm talking is not realism it's common sense what do most people do before releasing new things they test it on individuals not an entire planet. What they did was just pure idiocy!

I mean a better way would be if in the middle of testing there was a catastrophic disaster that allowed the virus to dissapate into the wider population not a purposeful dumb move.

Pretty sure they did test it, just not the long term effects. Because nothing like that could happen in real life... like asbestos :p
