Firefox 3.7 concept screenshots emerge at Mozilla Wiki

In Personal Menus extension just hide all the menubar items to hide the additonal text bits as it's not eneded.

sorry if this has already been said, but can someone explain why it seems to be the norm now for the new tab button to be at the end of the last tab? i can't see the sense in it yet it is something ie do, and now firefox??? why would you want it to forever move as you open/close new tabs?

I agree. I have a new tab button in my main bar. That's enough.

Also, when you only have one tab, how are you meant to open another new tab, as the tab bar is hidden?

It's annoying that you can't remove the new tab button from the tab bar, but it's something that'll get fixed...eventually.

It isn't hidden by default in 3.5 and up IIRC.

Code:
@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);

.tabs-newtab-button {display: none !important}

Will remove the new tab button.

After which you can install a new tab button through the right click customisation dialogue for the navigation bar.

I know you can remove it with CSS and place a new one. I meant remove the one in the tab bar with the customize dialog.

Oh, I doubt that will ever be an option as it's a part of the tab bar itself - Why not just use the CSS snippet? much simpler and robust. You can then add a new tab button on the navbar wherever you like.

Personally my choice is leave as is, logical location for new tab button is at the end of the tab bar as that is where a new tab appears.

Alternatively CTRL+T.

It's definitely in the pipeline (as part of turning the tab bar into a normal toolbar), and I don't really care whether it's there or not (if it wasn't I probably wouldn't add it but at the same time it's not a huge issue) - it's just annoying that it can't be removed in the normal way (and a load of time was spent working around that fact, dealing with if you had a new-tab button already and so on) and anyone who does want rid of it needs to either use an extension or CSS.

Nightly Tester Tools is a better option with Override button in the addons dialogue itself.

An update has been released to Strata40 theme which makes tab bar slightly slimmer bars and some other icon tweaks/changes here and there making the netbook experience more worth while :)

Manually update if you're not set to auto update!

Strata 0.5.2:

Jimmy1983 sorry didn't even see your Q as I didn't get a thread update email!

In the button customisation dialogue you can hide menubar items through the new button or just right click hide menu bar, pressing ALT will show it if needed.

mrk, are my eyes playing tricks because of your resized image or is your theme borked? looking at the left/right edges (especially around the status bar area) it looks like the "body" is poking out and it's not sitting flush?

It's always been like that, the status and toolbar width is a tiny bit shorter than the webpage body - strange but not really an issue

I prefer the newer theme tbh though, better icons for the buttons and better unfocused tab glass
