Firestrike Extreme Bench.

Haha, I did the same. Checked bank balance - looked at sale - thought about it - looked at X99 - Thought about it and closed the MM :p

Thought about posting new thread there, keep thinking about it, closed MM, need to know how much that 5960 is!! Maybe to rich for me, i dunno, heres hoping it will be around <£700

I think X99 needs a good look before committing to it.

The top of the range 5960X because of the 8 cores I think is going to overclock really bad so won't be much use to drive more than a single card but will be fantastic on the physics score.

The middle 5930k with 6 cores and 40 PCI-E lanes I think will be the best for multi GPUs and will hopefully overclock like an IB-E or a little better.

The 5820k as has been said elsewhere is ok for 1 or 2 cards but I am not happy with even this where you can not run X16/X16 on 2 cards. The bandwidth demands on cards is only going to increase in the next couple of years.

The reviews when these CPUs hit the shelves are going to make some interesting reading.

Agreed, lots to consider before committing to this new platform, if that 5960 can do around 4.65GHz i'd be happy with that, also a big ? Over the ram as the higher frequency models are using more volts so will the cheaper ones clock up?? Lots to read, can't wait ;)

Hard aint it :(
W33bo has a bundle on the MM, decent price. Slapped my fingers though, waiting for X99.

Seen that earlier and was tempted, though tbh I've no idea if it would be worth swapping out my current setup. Might look into X99 later down the line.

I reckon the 60X is going to be around the £899 mark. Also depends on how well it clocks as to whether it's worth picking up. Physics scores will be immense. I'm probably going to have to get the 30k, honestly don't think i could afford to get everything in 1 go.

CPU 5670mhz with 4.3 uncore and DDR4 3100. LN2 5960X do not clock like 4930K did. Still outperform it though. My 4930K did 6.2 for everything and still gets slammed.

Were you using the same setup for your Vantage entry, the CPU performance on that was very impressive.
