I noticed that there haven't been many fireworks going off around my way so far this year. Usually they're going off for quite a few weeks before bonfire night. Do you think this is due to stricter laws or is it due to the economic environment at the moment?

Do you attend public displays or have your own fireworks at home?

With fireworks? :D

Hate fireworks. (mainly for the dog)
They are always being let off round here. That's the most annoying bit. Just randomly throughout the year. Fine around the 5th. Don't mind that it's expected.

Went to a few displays ages ago, but find them quite dull.. Only so many "aaaah" and "ooooooh" you can do before you realise is cold dark and not worth paying for.

Set em all off in one go.. That would be better than an hour of lame.

I don't really get it either, I don't think I ever have even when young. Like you say the dogs hate it, the cat says ironically stop being a pussy.

Yeah nothing around here so far, last year they definitely started early maybe due being impacted by the pandemic in the couple of years before.

Many councils and well meaning philanthropic organisations are abandoning public firework displays this year claiming not only the perhaps expected lack of funding but also the impractical hoops they need to go through to address public liability insurance requirements and good old `eld `n' safety in all its guises.

So now that bang probably will be a gunshot :)

Someone was having a display near the town centre last night wondered what on earth was going on til I looked out the window and thought "oh fireworks" I'd forgotten it was that time of year sounded like a bomb going off

If a shop sells them, there’s so much legislation around storing, moving them and selling. Even once customers bought them, they have to leave the shop immediately and not allowed to enter more shops carrying them.

A few years back, had a customer come in with some fireworks he bought from elsewhere. We asked him to leave the shop. He was kicking off and he thought that only applied to that shop…

Been a while since I've heard/seen fireworks since moving more rural.

Can't say I miss them, the dogs certainly don't, but it was also free "oohhs", "ahhhs" and "wtf was that? Was that a gunshot? Is someone breaking in?" at 01:00 randomly from October through to January.

Started around here already. My cat is really scared which is really anoyying. Don't personally see the point. Just go to professionally arranged shows and stop being loud idiots.
