First bike after CBT - Yamaha YBR125 OR Honda CBF125

I have a J&S shop near me and been looking at their gear.
I thought helmet would be biggest expense but definitely is not the case.
Are biking boots a must?

I would say yes biking boots are a must. In an accident your feet and lower legs can be twisted or crushed between the bike and road, or ripped apart going down the road surface etc. Proper armoured boots offer some protection against that.

I went with the Honda
You're the squishiest, most vulnerable road user. A small moment of distraction can put you in a wheelchair or worse. You need every bit of protection you can get, if you're in a crash you'll be glad you did. @Hades can vouch for this first hand, as can many, many other riders.

I feel oldNot doubting for one second the importance of the gear.
Just more about buying the right gear. For example, does a £50 pair of "biker boots" do anything a solid pair of hiking boots would not?
I would guess in some ways, yes they do but do they offer additional "protection" as such or do you only see benefits with armoured boots for example?
