Hi Guys

Tried to boot the new build up for the first time but only the CPU cooler and Motherboard Orange LED came on, the case fans and cpu cooler fans stopped spinning after a second (one of the GPU fans twitched for a brief moment too), turned it off after 20secs or so.

Any ideas what to do next?

Pull the GFX card out and connect the monitor directly to the rear of the motherboard.

Try a single stick of RAM.

Try a clearCMOS.

I.e, power off, remove the battery for a bit (go put the kettle on) refit and power back on.

Oh dear, hmmm....

You arent going to like this but...pull the cooler off the CPU and check for bent socket puns.

Took the whole motherboard out to safetly remove the CPU, thought it looked alright at first but then properly inspected it and all the pins seem slightly bent in one direction (makes it seem fine to the naked eye). Not sure how they got bent during the install since it dropped into place nicely and the only force was applied by the socket lever. Should have checked more closely on arrival to see if they were fine just to be sure

Included a couple of pics

its hard to see from those pics

how many are bent? they all should be inline as in none that look out of alignment with the others

maybe try without the flash?

they are all meant to be at an angle if that's what you mean? its normal

these two look slightly out of shape, rest look fine

a big magnifying glass and a fine sewing needle along with a steady hand and you'll pull them back into shape, only attempt it if your fairly competent

yeah it'll be ok

you can either try straightening them yourself or to be safe just rma the board for repair/replacement

there's not much else you can do till you have a straight socket

Doubt I have steady enough hands to be able to work with the Pins, is there a way to know it's definitely the Mobo and not the CPU arriving dead? (don't have any spare parts on hand)
