I'm going to be starting my first build on wednesday (assuming all my parts come).

Just wondering if you guys have any tips and things i should be extra carefula bout while doing it? I found a couple of sites online that tell you what to do, and I also have that corsair build site that some people here have recommended

Are there any other useful sites? Also any general advice would be appreciated :) very nervous about it.

just make you sure earthed at something tht is linked to the floor e.g. a radiator install cpu, memory, heatsink into motherboard outside of case and take your time im sure youll do well, gl

http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/

Havent looked at that site for a very long time but it was what helped me through my very first build at the time.

As above make sure you earth yourself, wristbands etc aren't really need just touch something that is earthed like the radiator every so often and you should be fine.

If your case has a removable motherboard tray connect everything up outside the case and fire it up that way in case there's anything wrong.. so much easier.

Edit - and if in doubt... ask, plenty of people here as you will already know will be more than happy to help you out :)

Thanks :) Yea, i have that site too, Using that and the corsair one currently.
Yea, got a removable tray, so that should make things easier.
I bought a wristband anyway, when I bought a replacement PSU for my current computer a while back, so sicne I have it, might as well use it :p

hehe, yep, great to know that I got a nice support system lined up :D

As for what i've ordered, i'l tell you, but please don't flame me telling me i've wasted too much money, already been through that on pretty much all the different sub-forums, lol.

wow tht its one serious rig pics on progress though build and finished rig pls

Hey good luck with it man, I'm building my first in about a months time. Let us know how you get on. Enjoy it. I can't wait to build my own. No coffee on the motherboard now!

lol, thanks guys :)
So nervous about it. Afraid something might go wrong >_<
Even if i build it properly, and it doesn't work, first rebuilding it to make sure I built it properly. Then re-testing each part to figure out if one of them is the problem, then waiting more to get it replaced, lol

So nervous :P Especially since i'm playing with so much money.
At any rate, i'l try and get some pics for you guys, hehe.

Keep build advice coming! Invaluable at this stage, lol. Sites are all nice, but personal advice is always nicer. makes you feel special and whatnot!

Good luck to you too manoz :) Hope everything goes well. And yes, keep coffee away from motherboard :p

btw make sure you check your motherboard socket for pin damage before you fit your cpu if it is damaged you will need to get it rmaed, and for sesitive parts like the cpu i sometimes use powder free rubber gloves not kitchen dish wasing ones :) as rubber will not allow electricity to passthrough it eg. static electricity handleing sensitive components whilst wearing diposable powder free rubber gloves means you cannot damage it (well not from static anyway)

Ok, I now have the motherboard, power supply, a cable management kit (doubt il end up using it, but yea :p) and an internal card reader.
All the parts should be arriving tomorrow morning :D

Any and all advice for this first build will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone whose already given some, godo advice and i'l defintley be keeping it in mind. I'l try and take pics for everyone.
