First Build Advice

Does anyone know when the KFA2 GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card is actually out?

It says Pre-Order. ETA: Overdue

Thats okay, I still need a few more pay days before I make my £900 to buy it all together so the holidays should be over when I am ready to buy :)

The Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator Case is out of stock as well so thats another reason ill need to wait. Hopefully prices come down due to SB being released :D

Do you think Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit is enough RAM for a good gaming PC? I see people building gaming rigs and going for 8GB and sometimes 12GB aswell! Seems overkill but I dont know enough about this kinda thing to make assumptions :P

Is http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-023-OB ready to go out of the box? Of course I will need to install the OS but I mean I dont need to touch the BIOS or anything do I? Always been wanting an overclocked system but atm not willing to learn how to OC myself.

Looks's good to me. If you wan't an overclocked system and don't want the hassle of doing it yourself then it's a great option. Nothing wrong with that bundle for gaming either. Like mentioned before also. 4GB and 6GB of RAM is plenty. 12GB is for servers or people who think more is merrier. Adding more RAM can also affect overclocks but you wouldn't have this worry with the pre overclocked bundles.

Also take's the hassle out of fitting the cooler yourself which sometimes can be a pain depending on the type.

Oh, I didnt even think about the cooler, so everything comes pre assembled on the mobo? Thats great! :D Wasnt too worried about fitting it but hey, whatever gets me up and running quicker is fine by me!

Hello again :), so after some rethinking my budget and taking out things that arent essential I have came up with this and would love any feedback or criticism.

Radon Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle - Gigabyte - £398.28

KFA2 GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £285.95

Cubitek Tattoo Fire Midi-Tower Windowed Case - Black/Red - £71.48

Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK) - £70.99

TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N PCI Adapter (TL-WN851N) - £18.37

Total : £858.58

Would anyone suggest a spec that would out perform the above for the same price or less?

Im waiting on hearing back from OCUK about that Graphics Card because I dont even know if its available yet.

Another big question I have is this, would there be a dramatic drop in graphics/performance if I downgraded to a 480,470 or even a 460? I know there will be a difference of course, but will it be very noticeable?

Sorry for changing my mind again, needed to cut the price a bit cause I got told my contract is up in March and ill be unemployed :p

Thank you, Anderson.

If will consider overclocking the CPU yourself (have a look at this link - it is pretty simple with these new CPUs)- then you can afford a Sandy Bridge "bundle" that costs less as is much faster than the i5 750 bundle.

As for the PSU - I would go for this one instead.

As for whether the graphics downgrade will be noticeable - this review shows how performance compares to other cards in a range of games. Whether you will see a difference depends entirely on what resolution and settings you play at. Personally I would not go for a GTX 480 instead of a 570 - the 480 is a relatively load, hot power hungry card - while the 570 is much better in these areas so is generally easier to live with.

Thank you for the reply. I hear overclocking and I panic :p But I have managed to do a lot of stuff by following guides so I think I could manage it.

Okay ill change the PSU, was already recommended the Antec but I read somewhere that the Corsair TX was really good and I noticed it was cheaper. But I have learned from this forum that one must NOT skimp on a PSU :p

I wasnt sure about the case but I really like the black and red theme and it was a good price, anyone else used it before?

You have to fit the coolers yourself on overclocked bundles so it doesn't save anything! Tbh, overclocking is easy and you'll get it in no time :)

Thats fine then, ill go with cmndr_andi's spec. Damn that yellow fan for throwing off my red/black theme though :p

Theres a chance I wont overclock if im getting all the performance I need anyway :) Not sure if my case is big enough to keep everything cool, need to try find some reviews somewhere.

Red/black theme, eh?

Well the cooler option is very flexible as these sandy bridge CPUs seem to be relatively cool. Hence something like this cooler and this fan will be just as good (actually it will perform cooler and quieter), a bit more expensive and keep with your theme. Also, this cooler is a slightly cheaper (but still decent) option that won't throw off the colours.

Errmm... dont laugh.. but I have just realised that ATI GPU's can also work with Intel :S

For some reason I have always thought ATI=AMD and Nvidia=Intel.... Just proves how new I am to all this :p

So now my question is:
Asus GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-244-AS

Or would the 6950 flashed to 6970 be a better GPU?
