Hi,

I posted here over a year ago about a build but I never followed through on it. But now I have a job and I'm not so tight on money as I was so I'm going to give it another go.

The goal is to build a rig that can run Fallout 4 decently. So far I've come up with this:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,054.74
(includes shipping: £15.90)

Now the CPU falls short of the recommended requirements but I think it might be okay.

Also I have peripherals now but they're pretty old. So I might upgrade them later so for now I'm focusing on the computer and the monitor.

Thoughts?

You want to play Fallout 4 with it but is there anything else you want to do with it? and is there a reason for having a 1tb and 3tb hardrive in the spec? And is the budget £1000?

You may as well get a 6600k and mobo bundle for the money you have spent on the board and 6500 non k. Also with a non k there is no point getting an aftermarket cooler.

Unfortunately the bundles are out of stock atm but if you aren't in a rush then wait out. It'll be worth it. :)

Much better build, stronger card and an SSD as well as a K processor and high end cooler.

Only hits 900 leaves you 100 to source windows, I'd recommend finding windows 7 elsewhere cheaper and upgrading to 10 for free. and any peripherals you want to upgrade. Or alternately get a better GPU.

Not sure why you have two HDD's. Do you really need a DVD writer?

The specs for Fallout 4 are my goal but it's for general gaming and perhaps Labview and C++ programming for work but that's really it.

I may have gotten confused with the HDDs. I wanted one to store the OS for faster bootup times but I guess 1TB is a bit overkill. :)

The budget is not hardset at £1000, I'd go over by about 100, but I am including a monitor in the budget. I'll be buying the parts over time as well.

I like that mobo bundle too, I'll wait for that to come back into stock to buy it. And the Zotec card looks better too.

I'd rather have 16GB of RAM though and I definitely want to have USB 3.0 on the case.

Thanks for the help!!

Ill piece you something together, that will defiantly be much better 'bang for your buck'
Couple of questions you can answer while i do though...

- How much hard drive space do you need? You could get a 2tb for not much more than a 1tb and partition it, to say 300gb for OS and 1.7tb for the rest, also in your post, you have chosen a NAS storage HDD, which is quite a bit slower than a normal hard drive any reason why or just confusion?

- Do you really need that super high spec Blu Ray writer?

Not going to nit pick with other things, as you are asking for help, which is always a good thing when it comes to PC's, there is many improvements to be made, give me 2 minutes! :D

Here you go, I have went a bit over, £60 over the 1100, but that is including an EVGA 970 (very very very good CS, and performance) and a 250gb Samsung SSD.
If you can stretch, the SSD is well worth it, as the speed is just, its worth the £60, trust me.
Other than that, you will need to wait for the Motherboard/CPU combo to come back in, although i would recommend getting some of the parts tonight if you can, as they are reduced by a fair amount.
