I've just put together an i7 rig and the problem seems to be that the machine will only boot if I use the on-board power button. If I use the case (
Coolermaster Cosmos 1000) power button it turns on for 5 seconds then turns off. I've gotten into the bios and checked everything which appears normal.

Any ideas? I've checked the connections on the case > board (Asus Q-Connector) and it seems correct.

The specs are:

Core i7 920
Asus P6T Deluxe
Coolermaster Cosmos 1000
XFX GTX 280
6GB Corsair DDR3

Hope someone can help!

Have you tried shorting out the pins where the power button connects. Could be a faulty case button.

I remember someone else having trouble like this about a month or so ago. I think it turned out to be a fault with the adapter cable that goes between the psu motherboard plug and the motherboard socket?

Can't remember any other details unfortunately.
