I know I will have to buy some thermal paste but what else am I going to need?

Do I really need the anti-static wristband?

Is It likely am going to need extensions for the cabling?

The zip ties are a must.

Is there anything I am forgetting that could delay my build when I am finally ready to order next Sat?

So long as you aren't wearing some synthetic static-inducing clothing, then an anti-stat band isn't necessary. Just touch a radiator before the build, and every so often during it.

Dont forget a pair of radioactive rubber pants to help against any static build up.
A flask of tea will come in handy too.
A torch, preferably one you can glue to your forehead. I use mine almost every time in delving inside my PC.
Bacon sandwhiches (or any other filling).
Long nose pliers for collecting screws you have dropped.

I've always been wary of taking magnetic screwdrivers near a PC, especially the insides.
Oh, and you will also need a load of components to put together too.

Thanks, I cant wait to place my order! I will post a load of pics on the forum. The advice from the members of this forum has been priceless. It wasn't that long ago when I was going to buy the Dell Studio XPS! Thank god for google and OC

Depending on what case you are using (and PSU to some degree) I'd advise planning your cabling carefully, as the order that you install certain components can make quite a difference to the overall look of the finished rig. A messy cabling job can have a negative effect on case airflow and thus cooling. Putting in HDD's first and then discovering your graphics card wont go in cause of the cables on the HDD's and so having to move everything can be a real pain...

Some cases have very good cable mgmt built in (ie: Antec 900-2) and some like my Antec 300 have very little... I've just rebuilt mine after a quick dremel session and have routed some power cables etc around the back of the mobo tray giving a far cleaner interior and hence better cooling etc.

I guess the main thing to remember is that if you install something and then discover the cabling wont quite reach, or looks messy then don't be afraid to take it apart and have another go!

Good luck with the build, looking forward to seeing those pics. :)

Blu-Tak...nice tip.

I am gonna spend a lot of time on cable management. Was thinking a modular psu is the way forward but I don't want to spend too much. I was gonna go with the Corsair TX 650W.
