First car ~£800 options

Well for the insurance group, I think the 1.4 RT is an excellent car. They quote it at 12 seconds. Am sure if you are a good driver, you can probably get it to 11. With abit of mods, possible 10 seconds.

If anyone has timed it without no modifications, let me know. :)

I've timed my old 1.4 8v. I was well under 12 seconds, about 10.9 iirc. Timed with a mate's G-Meter.

Ah nice. Sorry if I am going off topic, but what decent performance mods can you recommend which wont cost too much?

How much performance difference will an induction kit cost in terms of speed to 60?

Depends. How much is "sod all"? :)

If you're going to mod it for performance, you mod it properly. Start by chucking all the weight out of it, then go from there.

an induction kit will do nothing apart from noise. You're better off to save the money for a Valver or an RSi.

I'm in the north east. There's a few available for that price. There's even a few '96 models at ~£600.

I'm so coming up there! most the decent Fiestas down here are over £1k
