First Car

Look at a nissan sunny, i've got a mate, 18, insuring the 1.4 twincam for about 900 quid. Paid 300 for it and it's pretty quick tbh.

You'll get insured on a vecta easy though, quote it. I got insured on a citroen xsara vtr for 50 quid a month when i first passed.

Are Punto's worth having a ganders at?

Thought you wan't something reliable :p Puntos aren't that!.

Seconded. I had a punto for a few months before someone hit it at about 15 mph and wrote it off. I swear it was made of cheap plastic. It had just passed its MOT a few days before, so I can only assume it was built like pap. It was cheap to buy and it showed. It didn't feel good to drive at all either. I'd steer well clear.

Also, getting insured on your parents Vectra can certainly be possible. One of my friends was insured as a learner on his parents Vectra and stayed on when he passed his test. I can't remember the numbers but it was definitely affordable.

Suzuki Swifts aren't waaaaaay out of your price range - that particular one was.

When you get to £500-1000 car, make and model ceases to matter - the price is all down to condition, and whether the owner wants a quick sale.

For what it's worth, I'd go one two ways - 1.0-1.1 litre small french hatchbacks (106 etc) or something slightly and japanese (1.4 litre 90s shape Almera/Civic etc)

if you want to get something that seems fast get a 1.1 Seicento. My mum had 1 and cause it was so low to the ground it felt like you were going really fast but you werent

Did you get an E in your GCSE English this year Janesy? He said it felt like you were going fast, but you were not.

I left school 6 years ago

It won't even feel fast and it's a pretty crap suggestion because not many Seicentos fall into that price bracket. It will be Cinqs that can be had for £500. It only feels fast because it's the size of a sardine tin and has refinement equal to one as well.

if you look on trader theres about 4 or 5 for less and slightly above

just remember its the persons 1st car so the insurance will be high so they would want something cheap to insure cause not everyone can afford to insure and run a big car

well your 1st car isnt meant to be beautiful just something that you can get you ncb rolling and get you from A to B without any troubles.

Much in the same way that your 5 isn't suited to someone who wears Etnies hoodies and skate shoes? Maybe we should swap?

A Fiesta is a good car as well but i dont think that you can get a good Fiesta for £500 or less and that would be cheap to insure
