First day since June I haven't ridden in to work

Well my smug 'I ride all the time' bravado has come back to bite me.
I dropped the bike on ice this morning. Low speed so mainly scuffs to the RHS panels.
Unfortunately my hand took a lot of the brunt and I may need to go to hospital if it gets worse.

Just riding round a corner and the bike just seemed to glide away from under me and we skidded about 20 feet along the tarmac. It all happened surprisingly quietly.

Careful out there, it's a bit slippy!

sorry to hear that, that's a bummer.

I nearly went bum of nipple this morning walking in. Black ice everywhere

Today was one of those days were you think its ok but really its not. I took the car today and after 2 miles the frost and ice had gone which made me think I wish I took the bike but anything can happen in those first couple of miles.

Sorry to hear about your off though.

Rain X or something on the outside and Pinlock inside :) I found anti fog on the outside does nothing, but something like Rain X usually turns it into droplets and it just runs off when moving.

Try polishing your helmet SORRY...

No honestly I used car paint polish on the visor and buffed off. Once the rain hits it you get droplets and they just blow off

Heh, today was the first day I have taken the bike to work since June (new job)! 30 miles each way, very cold... at least the engine likes the cold air. :D

Though today was not my most extreme ride by any means:

Thought I'd try a ride in the freezing fog too this morning.

Not very pleasant visibility wise. Fog kept condensing on my visor then freezing. By the time I got to work I was almost wearing a suit of ice :o

Think I'll be taking the car next time ;)

I've just been out on my bike and the tyres felt like they were made of plastic, not a lot of grip so I just pottered along the ring road like a granny (some guy on an R1 wheelied past me as I came off a roundabout too, nice!)

same here, had to take VFR 10 miles on a new ture. Also managed to lock the front end and about high side.

Got that Daytona 955 to come come and came off the roundabout a bit to much beans in the throttle had it sideways. bum cheeks were slapping together like symbals :eek:

I'm glad it's not just me being a loser. I locked the rear brake coming out of Sainsburys car park, was only at walking pace and I hardly touched it. Glad it was the rear in the car park and not the front when I was on the ringroad!

It was cold today, damn, and it's going to be at least till the end of the week like that.

As long as there won't be any snow I will use my bike to go to work.

I wish I still had my car :)

Bit snowy on the way to work for the first mile today, no grit on the back roads near Lewisham but fine once on the main roads, very wet was all.
The weight of the Kwak GT crushed through the snow and and didnt slide at all, no way would I have ridden the gixxer in today, instant dougnuts and sliding down the road action I reckon.
Anyone else play in the snow today?

I rode my bike as usual to work from Epsom to Wimbledon. Residential roads were covered with snow but main roads were fine. On my way back soon, looks like it's going to be the same as in the morning, cold and wet. Was extra careful on residential roads, normal roads looked normal to me.

Took me 2 and a half hours to ride 15 miles to college today, a few inches of snow and the roads come to a standstill. I couldn't even cut down the centre as that was where all the snow and sleet was.

No snow here yet in christchurch... think we might have some today. Actually looking forward to having a play when it does, though the 1/4mile hill I have to climb to get home might be interesting
