First day since June I haven't ridden in to work

I used to ride all year round, about 5 years, not any issues and only couldn't make it to work once due to the conditions and I'm not talking about city riding, it was 15miles each way from a small village, but moved close enough to work to walk.

Walking to work makes you really look at the road surfaces and has put me off :) Although down here, it rarely snows - we've not had a single drop this winter. I would be a little nervous about having to ride to work every day now.

Damn I didn't know there was going to be so much snow on the way back home. The forecast in the morning was light snow and there was so much snow I couldn't believe. I was so crazy to take my bike yesterday to work but there were no buses etc on the way back home so I would have had to walk 9 miles :( and nobody at work warned me that there was so much snow. DAMN YOU!!!! And nobody asked anyone if anyone wanted to finish work earlier etc.

Took me 2 hours to get back home as the road where full of cars, nothing was moving, everything was at standstill.

The worst part is that I dropped my bike 200 meters from home. No kidding. I couldn't lift it on my own but luckily there was just someone nearby. Doesn't look I made any damage but the gear leaver seems to be bent a bit.

I hate myself now for dropping my bike, this morning the bike wont start :( I dunno if this is due to weather as its quite cold and I drained the battery so I just gave up. I am staying home today, f.... this weather and my employer.

18 inches of snow here, so I don't think it will be going out! Tried convincing a local farmer friend if I could take his quad though but he wouldn't have any of it.

Taking a bus to work tomorrow first time ever, this is going to suck. I managed to fix the bent gear leaver and took the bike for a spin this afternoon, main roads were fine but my close where I live still has 1 inch of hardened snow so I feared the worse but managed to leave it safely. Went to check the local roads this evening and all iced up even though main roads look to be fine I am not going to risk it tomorrow due to the local 300 meters I need to ride to get to main roads.

Damn living in Surrey sucks, London has hardly any snow.
