Yes, if it posts as you said asking for boot drive, it is good to go, nice build.

I am so impressed with your patience, being able to walk away from a half built rig only to return to it later.

Once the boxes arrive in the post its one long slog until its built with me.

I always build my rig one step at a time, making an effort to test at each step to eliminate problems early and make it easy to diagnose. After it posts for the first time I check the CPU temps to make sure it's not overheating. Most important is hours of memtest86 testing to eliminate ram problems. I was caught out by bad ram on one of my first builds which caused random bluescreens, so I like to eliminate ram as a problem early in the build process.

Once the OS is installed it's off to prime95 for torture testing overnight to see if the PC is stable. That's before I've installed any games or other software.

It can take a couple of days before I actually finish up the build properly, putting all the wires in neatly and installing peripherals and drivers. I like to make sure the basic machine is stable first, just in case I have to take it to bits to test something, or RMA a faulty part.

I would build it quicker if I could, won't start tonight till probably 9pm or around that. But it does give me something else to look foward to after everyone in the house has gone to sleep :)

And I still probably won't complete it tonight.

meh didnt get much done last night, the rear fan seems to make an anoying hum, its currently connected to the y splitter. Might add it to the fan controller and see if it reduces the hum.

Unless anyone else knows why it would hum ?

One other thing I noticed was the 2 x 460's look so tight together, like the metal from the fan could easy touch the back of the board on the other.

Posting this from new pc, :D so far so good. Fingers crossed it's stable

lastest shot, will have a final shot early this week.

I have to say I have enjoyed this a lot, now I just wanna build more.

Not bad for my first attempt at building one.

can anyone comment on these details as in are the temps ok etc ?, taken screenshot just now and the pc has been running for probably 2 hours now. I haven't touched anything regarding overclocking yet.

I7 950 at 1.6GHz? or is that 'intel cool and quiet' Download and run Prime95 at stock with large FFT.

12V rail looks a little low, anyone else comment?

Looks very tidy though.

Well as a comparison my 920 at 3.8GHz maxes at 65C with the Prolimatech and push/pull setup.

Id say its worth double checking your thermal paste.

I have no idea but is 58/62c at 3.2ghz bad ? running prime for 30 minutes.
I would go a bit higher. 65-70c is normally fine but you may want to keep it bellow 65c is you want to be safe. Quite a few people with I7s even have running into the 70s and 80s!
