First Gaming PC: Budget £1200.

So basically I want a good steady 60fps on ultra quality. I have £1200 to spend, I need a Mech Keyboard, Mouse (Preferably a MMO Mouse), Monitor, all the parts, Case etc etc.

kind of went for 75hz 1080p freesync monitor with AMD RX 580 card :D
no idea about keyboard and mouse though

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,250.72
(includes shipping: £15.90)

intel version, i3 unlocked. know remembering i3's are 4 cores chips like older i5s , the i5 8400 has risen in price more then the i7 and i5 K versions which shows how much of a performer they are , but prices it over the budget :(

You don't spend 1200 and put an i3 in a system that's just wrong. Ryzen or coffee lake i5 upwards is the way to go.

Maybe lower ssd to 250gb and put towards a mechanical drive and towards a higher intel cpu if you go intel

Regarding mechanical keyboards are they something you have used before? If not try some first they do vary allot.

Would depend on his fave games. An overclocked i3-8350K* is the ideal chip for WoW Legion, for example. It will kick Ryzen's and locked Intel i5/i7's butts. Not saying it's the best choice in general but we won't know till OP gives some idea of games. He did mention MMO's though.

* Needs cooler, btw.

i3 is now i5..... Or you on about you don't out a 4 core i3 in a £1200 system with screen in the bundle but i5 6 core instead...

Stigma of Intel right there

I just think if spending 1200 on a system I'd want more than the entry cpu, I'd be getting 6 core as a minimum now and that would apply to me if I was about to drop 1200. Weather that's amd or intel would depend on performance reviews I'm not biased to either

With monitor and other peripherals it makes it harder, though. Windows isn't even included in above specs. Crazy RAM prices don't help, either. On the plus side, the i3-8350K is identical to the i5-7600K in your sig, much cheaper, and on a platform that can take the six core upgrade.

With a rx580 8GB that will last longer then a 1060 and Freesync 75hz monitor :)

Similar to the other builds, but have saved some money on the mouse, storage and RAM, all in order to afford a better monitor.

  • This monitor not only has substantially better colour accuracy and black levels, but it has a higher refresh rate. I genuinely think that a high-refresh rate monitor is the single biggest improvement you can make to a gaming setup.

The AM4 motherboard allows you to upgrade the CPU until 2020. This is a nice option for the future if you found that performance is slower than you want.

The GPU is on offer currently. The VEGA 56 would be the logical option above this, but would put you way above budget. It does offer a large performance improvement though.

8GB RAM instead of 16GB isn't ideal, but most games (especially with Ryzen) benefit more from RAM speed, not capacity. You could upgrade in future to 16GB when prices are more reasonable. A 1x8GB kit (instead of 2x4GB) would be ideal for the future, but I can't find one at the right speeds on the website. If you wanted 16GB, add £69 to the total.

~£50 could also be saved by shopping around, which could allow for more storage/RAM.

Intel does also have some great CPU alternatives, the i5-8400, that often perform better than the Ryzen 1600 in games but there are massive stock shortages of this CPU (which means price-gouging). As such, I can't recommend this CPU yet for your budget, but maybe in a few weeks when stock normalizes it would be a great option.
