Hi there.

I'm planing on getting my first gaming pc but have no idea where to start.

I want to play games at high or highest settings. I love good graphics (I know they don't make the game) and for them to run smoothly.

It will be purely for gaming and nothing else. Playing mainly rts games, city builders, and maybe the odd rpg.

How much would I need to spend to get me what I want!?

I'd need everything, pc, mouse, keyboard, monitor, software etc

Thanks for your time

I have no budget in mind yet as I have no idea how much a gaming pc, that will fit my needs will cost me. Thanks

Nice one for that.

So, would the 1070 give me better graphics, smoother gameplay, both?

Also, what would be the next step up from 1080p?

Would games look really nice and play really well on this setup?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions, this is all very new to me and I don't want to mess up. Cheers

Thanks for the helpful replies everyone.

I have a Sony Bravia 32" LCD, would that be any good for gaming or is a gaming specific monitor better?

Is overclockers the cheapest way to buy a gaming pc? Also does it come built or will I have to build myself?

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. Will now research what you have said.

Any other opinions for my criteria!?

Thanks for all of the helpful input everyone. Much appreciated.

I had in my head of around a grand just for the tower, then all the other stuff on top.

Would that get me roughly to where I want to be? Would that get 1440p?

If someone else could do a build that would be great.

Thanks again

Cheers for that build.

I've decide definitely gonna go for the 1440p monitor.

I'll have a look properly at that build and do a bit more research.

I'm not gonna be ordering anything for another 2 weeks so I'll see what happens with the new vega.

What does overclocking actually do and is it easy to do? I presume it enhances power/performance!? Why don't they just come already maxed out?

Thanks

Ok I think I have my head round overclocking now thanks guys.

I'm thinking of a few hundred pound ish for the monitor. I'd like 27" really. Is g sync really worth paying the extra?

I'm gonna start off with a cheaper keyboard/mouse combo to get me going. Saw a few on other sites for £30 for both keyboard and mouse. Also I've found windows 10 for £20 too so that's money saved.

Also would that setup let me have 2 graphics cards in the future (ski or crossfire!?) if I decided I wanted to upgrade? Thanks

Thanks everyone for your guidance.

Now for the scary part of actually building the damn thing haha.

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again

Cool thanks.

There's a sticky thread on the hardware forum which goes into depth about building pc's, I'll be sure to have that to hand on the build. Also plenary of YouTube videos haha

Does this monitor seem like a good choice? Looks good specs and decent price

hi @Plec

Could you take a quick look and see how it compares to your build please!?

I think the gpu is the same, looks like more ram? Not sure about everything else though.

Many thanks

I'm not going down the sli route.

I tried looking on the website about a custom build, couldn't see anything. I'll have another look.

Will probably build the one you specked to be honest @Plec I'm just seeing what my options are really.

I'm still gonna wait on the release of Vega too to see if the makes any difference to the market.
