First gaming pc

hey @Plec hope you're good.

ive got a spare few hours later, so im gonna have a go at starting the build:confused:

If you have a bit of spare time, would you be able to tell me the next process please for flashing the mobo and anything else i need to know?

ive formatted the usb stick to fat32, the latest bios seems to be F8, not F7??

Thank you, wish me luck:(

Edit, F8 doesnt seem to work so ive downloaded F7 and is on the USB stick.

Nah it's not responding, I've downloaded F7 instead so will just go with that.

I've literally only done that as I remember you saying only to plug in 1 ram stick, the cpu, psu to mobo and monitor!? So bit confused on this bit.

I should be fine once that is done. So if you could tell me exactly what to use and what to do to flash the bios that'd be great.

Thanks @Plec

Right then, I'm back and focused now @Plec :)

Absolutely nothing done so far. Surrounded by everything ready to go.

I don't mind doing it out of the case if you describe exactly what is needed to be done please.

Is ok to do it with the mb on the box?

ok im just gonna work through that list you just posted.

Ive been watching a lot of youtube videos, quite scary when its all in front of you though, haha.

will keep you updated:)

Ram installed

cpu and cooler installed and cooler plugged in to mb.

there were cables with the ram, do these need to go in now??

EDIT: thanks for picture daniel, think i know how they go now

ok,

ram installed

cpu, cooler in and cooler plugged to mb

psu connected to mb

gpu installed, pci e cable plugged into gpu, now where other end of that go on the psu??

Yes if it's not connected to PSU (as it's modular)

We'll recap all connections before you fire up and that they're connected to PSU.

Great, so the only available connection points on the psu which are 8 pin are.... VGA1 and VGA2 (and cpu but its obviously not that)

which do i use?

PS thanks for being so patient

Look at the end of the cables - should fit in VGA1 (well any of them - should have 4) if you're talking about the 8 pin cable for the GFX power?

(not to be confused with the VGA image that was posted earlier)

Sorted, thats the one.

Right then, next step please:)

Connection recap:
  • 8 pin 12V (motherboard and PSU)
  • 24 pin (motherboard and PSU)
  • CPU fan in CPU_FAN header
  • GPU 8 pin (motherboard and PSU)
  • Kettle lead in back of PSU
  • DP/HDMI connected to monitor
  • Keyboard plugged in
Now get a medium sized screwdriver - clean the head.

Ah, good job youre on the ball. havent plugged in 8 pin 12v to motherboard. will that go in slot labelled ATX_12v on mb, and into another VGA slot on psu?

screwdriver cleaned and ready

Another recap:
  • 8 pin 12V (motherboard and PSU)
  • 24 pin (motherboard and PSU)
  • CPU fan in CPU_FAN header
  • GPU 8 pin (motherboard and PSU)
  • Kettle lead in back of PSU (not plugged in yet)
  • DP/HDMI cable connected to monitor and other end connected to graphics card ***NOT*** the motherboard output. Make doubly sure!
  • Keyboard plugged in
Say when you're happy to proceed.

Ready as ill ever be....:(
