Yes but Intel has claimed to have a discrete mainstream graphics card around the corner for the last decade. This is absolutely the worst time to try and launch them anyway due to lack of resources to make them.
You already have.
Cars have had limits differentiating models for years. the L, the GL, GLX for example all come with the same engine but in three different states of tune producing more BHP and therefore capping the top speed. That doesn't even count the interior upgrades on the differnt models.

Except both Nvidia and AMD rely on an external fab company. Intel have their own fab, so they are only restricted by their own production choices and capacities, not a contract.
Your card has limited double precision, if you want a card without the limit you would have to buy a quadro.
Of course that doesn't effect you so it gets ignored.
Defending the restriction of cards, I don't believe that I have ever said that please show me where I have?
My opinion, ALL crypto currencies should be banned. Cut off the get rich quick schemers and the world can get back to normal......well normal-ish.

To be absolutely fair, its not the people like yourself that have caused this ridiculous drought of GPU's. Much more the people who buy 10, or 100, 1000 GPU's to set up a get rich quick farm.

I only mine at night during the week but usually 24 hours over the weekend if not gaming. Haven't really noticed a major increase in electricity costs. It shows as 200W @ 93.5MH/s tuned with clockpeed at 1035MHz and Vcore of 0.731V. Costs roughly 40p per night so around £12/month but can mine around £110-£140 per month.

Both equally good points but can we see them prioritising making these cards? I'd like to see that as it would be nice to have a 3 horse race!
I was listening to the radio 2 and someone said that once we have a sizable 5g network setup new cars will be automaticaly speed restricted to the speed limits in coverage areas
and they would be running trials in the next two years

I mean ford could build all their car's to go 200mph+ easy, however they limit the speed of a 4 door family saloon to a sensible speed as it's not designed for racing. In this metaphor mining is racing, gaming is taking the kids to the school.
Limited by design is still limited...

Well you don't have to buy from this specific manufacturer, you can be principled about that stance and buy from another one which hashes at regular speed and then you face a demand for that card from all the miners. Odds are you'd be waiting way longer, or paying way more money to get a piece of kit without that limitation, but for a gaming perspective is functionally the same. I think that's a bit of a silly hill to die on if what you genuinely want is gaming performance only.
If this remains an option, and it free's up more cards for gamers, then it's a good thing IMO. If this was forced upon the entire series I'd have more qualms with it myself, even though I don't do any mining.
People are always so short sighted. "Well it does not affect me now, so its good".
Thats why my somewhat silly extrapolations where to highlight that if we accept this kind of restrictions on products we buy, at some point it just might be something we DO care about.
Its all academic anyway. Unlike with cars, we have almost no choice. ITs nVidia or AMD or no games.
I admire the optimism from people tho... that think this will actually solve anything.
Remind me again how easy its been to buy RTX 3060s? Oh yea right... those are as hard to buy, and as overpriced as everything else.
RTX 3060's cost more than double the price on these Scalped auction sites. NVIDIA claimed the 3060 could not mine but they can mine.
