Got my first "Proper" job now.

Had an interview at M&S and will be working in the Cafe section. =P Fooood!

£6.28 a hour and time and a half (£9.42)on Sundays. Which isn't anything to complain about at 16 :p

What were your first jobs? Any weird ones? xD

I worked for Ramada Jarvis (hotels) taking bookings for all their hotels, was alright. Quite fun when no one rang up, we just sat around chatting. Money was good, £6.20 an hour IIRC.

Trouble was it was 18.5 hours a week, so thats probably why I didnt do too well in my A-Levels!

Congrats on the job

Congrats - great rate.

Glass collector in a bar was my first job - man those were some good times. After that I went to work in a Supermarket, but then moved on to being a cleaner at a mental hospital; great job, that was.

First job YTS Mechanic on about £25/30 a week which was about 38hrs.
Ah YTS another way of saying cheap labour!!!!:D

That is excellent pay, my first job was at Argos and I got £4.92 an hour and time and a half on Sundays.

I was a greedy little git when I was that age.

Used to do paper round in a morning, one in the evening, Worked at Woolworths on a Saturday and cleaned cars at a garage on a Sunday.

Used to earn about £60 a week, which was a lot in 1988 haha

Edit - first full time job was at Barclays Bank - think my salary was about £7500 a year.

You guys have it good, my first proper job, aside from a paper round as a young lad, was in a sport shop at 16 whilst at college.

I only got £2.18 an hour.

Now I know I am getting old :D

Very well OP. :)

My first job was a paperound - £15 a week for a paperound that took around 35mins each morning..wasn't bad and the tips at Xmas were around £100!

Back when I was that age, after the paper round I worked sundays at WH Smiths. The barcode on the plastic wrapper of the Sunday Telegraph never used to scan so I ended up knowing it off by heart.

PK!

Nice one :)
My first job was at Carphone Warehouse, £4.30 an hour but with commission so on average it'd work out as £8-£10 an hour usually.
Still the most enjoyable job I've had.

Working in an Ice Cream Van on the beach during summer, it was awesome. On rainy/quiet days the boss would come down and I would get the day off to goto the pub with a mate of mine :D

First proper job is the one I do now, which is a good one :D

KaHn

That's great pay.

I used to get £4.25 ph for serving food, then £6 for slaving in a kitchen. You've done pretty well to get extra pay on a Sunday, I always thought catering was by default "unsociable hours", so I never got any extra...:(

Well done the OP :)

My first job was supermarket checkout guy - £1.86 per hour in the middle of the last recession and before the minimum wage was brought in. The only perk was sometimes being allowed to do shelf stacking for a change if it was quiet in store :p

My first job was working as a labourer for a landscape gardener guy, £60 for a saturday, but it was from about 6am till 4-5pm. The first day i honestly thought i was having a heart attack :D

Also, trying to fork over a vegtable patch when its below 0'c is not funny.
