First Job

My first job was at a restaurant, getting £3.50 per hour to wash up, then i moved onto waiting on and bar work which paid a bit more.

Got my first "Proper" job now.

Had an interview at M&S and will be working in the Cafe section. =P Fooood!

£6.28 a hour and time and a half (£9.42)on Sundays. Which isn't anything to complain about at 16 :p

What were your first jobs? Any weird ones? xD

I am totally gonna come and bug you :p

My first job was the dehli counter at tescos. I hated it. Stayed for 3 months and then got a job at the local purple shirts. Been there ever since although I now work for the tech guys instore rather than just being a customer advisor.

My first job was at the Tie Rack in Stansted Airport Landside/Airside- £4.50 an hour at 16 (this was 10 years ago now!)

After my first month or two they gave me a set of keys and I'd regularly open up the shop at 6am and be on my own for a few hours before any other members of staff came in! Was always fairly sure that the hours I worked were illegal for that age, or at least a bad idea for a 16 year old to have the run of the shop and cashing up on their own. Once I overslept and didn't open the shop till 8.30am and no one ever said a thing!

First proper job was at 18 after leaving college, mechanical designer, just been bought out by an oil company now too.

before that i did all sorts of odds and sods, labouring, gardening, temping, mailing etc. etc.

My first job was washing up in a pub kitchen. It was a four hour shift during the week from 7pm to 11pm. However we never went past 10pm and during quiet periods could finish just after 9pm. It was £16 per shift so £4 an hour (before minimum wage I think) but if we finished by 9pm it was £8 an hour. :D

I'd also do a Saturday lunch shift, 12 to 2pm I think. £12 for that. Less money for the shift but £6 an hour rather than £4. However I would always be there past 2.30pm as there was so much washing up to do. :(

First job was at Thorpe Park picking up rubbish for £2.30 an hour but I hated it so got a job in Sainsburys for £2.17 an hour and worked there for a year.

This was in 1989.

Worked 4 hours a week on a timber yard at 15, worked out at £2.50 an hour... I didn't stay long.

Worked at tesco when i was 15, then waitrose when i was 16.

Got a lofty £5.70 an hour, and £11.40 on sundays, but that was 6 years ago and when John Lewis Partnership stores did double on sundays
