First month on BT - Usage warning.

No actually, I thought the only people able to set up a phone line were bt and the post office. I don't have (or want) a tv license, which probably makes sky difficult. I'll look into it though, cheers

I'm glad they're treating you well. I spent three weeks trying to buy a phone line from them, and they've been ridiculously difficult. Won't put me through to the right department because it's busy, would I like a call back? Said call back doesn't happen. They've initiated no contact with me at all; chasing them to find out when they're thinking of sending an engineer, then again when he doesn't turn up is not encouraging. If they're this crap when I'm trying to give them money, I expect them to be less than worthless if there's a problem with the line.

are you doing it over the phone? i just walked into my local post office and hey presto, 2 weeks later i had a working phone line and broadband connection

First month on BT and I already have a usage warning because I've just gone over 80GB.

I did have to re-download my steam collection a couple of times though.

Does usage get reset every month? They say if I go over 100GB they'll limit me to 1MB for 30 days.

Any idea if there is a contract cooling off period with BT as I'd like to go on to another provider.

Thanks

I would never use bt again, i had them for a short time with a 40gig download cap.

i was using their online check my usage page in my account which wasnt working correctly and still only showing id used a few gig. Turns out it was 134gig at the end of the month, got a phone call saying basically either pay 350 quid for the extra usage or move on to another supplier and don`t pay.

Guess which i chose.

It was a short time with bt and id never go back. Their call centers are crap, and so is their broadband service.

I was happy with pipex some years back, english call center static ip.

Then moved to tiscali talktalk when i moved house - never again!, didnt` recieve a bill for my phone for 10 months no matter how many times i asked. They couldnt find my phone account and then wanted me to pay the lot in one go once they did almost a year later.

Their brodaband was ok as far as speeds etc but customer service is 0-10

Now happy with plusnet brodaband based in sheffield, english speaking - static ip at no extra cost. View my usage works within 24hrs so you cant go over, i get 80 gig which does me just right for a month.

I pay about £25 quid which is more than the usual but, you get what you pay for.

Try asking bt for a static ip - just doesnt happen..

"it's all right at our end" Always! and if you don't live in the city, unless your phone line breaks down and others they wont fix it. That might damage their profits and targets. ¬_¬

4 years ago I had a long argument with them once. They told me to take off the NTE5 filtered faceplate while I was on the phone. It was so amusing (in a crying way) arguing with these idiots. I told them so many times if I do this you do realize this will disconnect the phones. They said it would not and told them are you really sure you want to do this 5 - 6 times and guess what... the link to BT's help desk died.

Of course once the microfilter gets plugged in behind, it's back but I had to go through their lame crappy procedure idiotic board all over again. Of course while that happens, the fault remained with the faceplate off. At least 2 hours a time with these morons. By the time you're done you feel like taking a mental on the walls. The frustration it creates... I don't think there is a term for it. Loads of phone numbers that takes you back to the same department you started with.

I'd love to tell the stories I've had with BT but it's a closed chapter and talking about it would just bring back the madness. I swear though dealing with them it would cause you to become a psychopath.

That is for the connect product. Not the LLU Unlimited package. It is the only package in the UK that is truly unlimited. Unless you count Virgins 50mb but that has a FUP.

O2 LLU is also unlimited.

Rumor had it that from september sometime NEW customers may have a FUP introduced but as of yet nothing has been announced.
