Hi Guys

I am thinking of building my first ever PC which will be used primarily for gaming. Have been gaming on Xbox for years but would like to join the 'Master Race'

Anyway, I've been doing some research for the last few days and have shortlisted the following components. Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated as you guys have far more knowledge and experience than myself.

CPU: Intel i7 7700k (chosen purely for gaming performance)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H115i
Mobo: MSI Z270 Gaming M5
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080Ti SC2 Hybrid
RAM: Corsair DDR4 4x8GB 3200Mhz
SSD: Samsung 960 Pro M.2 1TB
PSU: EVGA G3 750w
Case: (???) not really looked into this at the moment but any suggestions are welcome

I'm hoping that this setup would be capable of producing 4K @ 60fps (for most games). Anything you guys would change? Thank you in advance

Wait to see if the 8700K is worth it. (This will be the successor to the 7700k, more cores and maybe the same Ghz)
Wait to see if the 7700K prices drop when the 8700K is released.
Read the numerous threads with very similar topic to yours which really answers all your questions, and nearly always recommend Ryzen 1600 or 1700 for very good reasons.
Consider Ryzen vs coffeelake (8700k) as the main debate. 8700k is interesting to me as I only play flight sims, but I will get BF1 over winter so Ryzen is also whispering into my ear "I'm pretty special and a great bargain"

I'm in the same boat practically so waiting on 8700k benchmarks hopefully in early sept....and 1080ti prices to return to "normal".

Also see what Vega had to offer, doubtful to beat or match 1080ti performance. Check the graphics card forum for a pile of debates about that little box of secrets.

Roll on sept!

^Wait for 8700K
CPU Cooler: Corsair H115i
^Only needed if doing serious overclocking
Mobo: MSI Z270 Gaming M5
^Decent choice. Irrelevant though since a new Z370 board is needed for 8700K
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080Ti SC2 Hybrid
^Are you gaming at 4K?
RAM: Corsair DDR4 4x8GB 3200Mhz
^2X16 makes more sense than 4X8 and puts less stress on the memory controller.
Having said that 16GB is more than enough for gaming for the forseeable future. 32GB is overkill
for a gaming machine by quite a bit.
SSD: Samsung 960 Pro M.2 1TB
^Good choice. I'm not sure 1TB is enough storage. I can't even install all the games I own on my 2.6TB of available storage in my machine :(
PSU: EVGA G3 750w
^Very nice power supply
Case: (???) not really looked into this at the moment but any suggestions are welcome
^This is a personal choice. Apart from the obvious "Do my parts fit? Is the airflow good?" you should also ask "Is it easy to work inside of for a first time builder? Do I like how it looks?"
Personally the Entho Evolv tempered glass edition is my fav case of all time aesthetically and is easy to work with but the tempered glass panel is fragile and I wonder if it would be a good choice for a first timer because of that.

If you want value for money go with a Ryzen R5 1600. At 4K the cpu has less work to do so Ryzen is very comparable to Intel at this resolution.

For the SSD if you want NVMe go with the cheaper 960 EVO. The PRO isn't really needed unless you value paying more for a longer warranty. If you want value for money you could also just go with a regular SATA such as the 850 EVO or a Crucial MX300 etc which both have 1TB versions.
