i must say that i think your PS skills at post processing are exceptional.

you should give lightroom a try.

Er.. not sure what too say about that. Today was the first day of me using PP in PS.

I know I have an eye for things like this and my girlfriend keeps telling me I am good at art etc. Thank you very much for the compliment.:)

Very true, which means you may go far, PP is IMO almost half of digital photography. :)

But why try lightroom? PS is better.

Well my girlfriend has this option at her work to buy a PC tax free out of her wages over 3 years. You can choose from 30 odd courses to take. All in your own time. You get certificates etc at the end and you get too keep the gear. Which includes a 40" Sony Bravia LCD and Sony Viao (sp) Media center PC.

There is a a lot of Digital Photography courses on there and she has just mentioned I should take some up.

You guys think I have what it takes?

oooh might have to invest in a good camera now..:D

Ah ok. Yep go for it, you won't look back, that is until you ask yourself why you are destitute from buying all those lenses and 'essential' extras. :p

:D I know what you are saying. I did have a time where I did some photography years ago. I was a teenager then. Iirc the camera I had was a Pentax of some description.

I might give it a go. Ill have to design my NTL site up from scratch then to accomodate my new found hobby:)

Thats like saying apples are better than oranges. Photoshop is not better than Lightroom, or visa versa. It all depends on what your are doing. For basic tweaks, colour levels etc, then I would say I much prefer Lightroom as all the controls are grouped together and are much more intuative. For selective editing, then PS is the one to go for. I personally wouldn't like to be without either. Most of my pp work is done in Lightroom, then its sent to Photoshop to be finished off.

What's Lightroom? Is it another Photo program like PS?

In a way yes. It is designed for photography, so is quite a bit more intuative for a photographers needs. It also acts as a photo library, allowing you to add keywords and rate your pics etc. It however doesn't allow to selectively edit pictures like photoshop does.

Ok I was a bit ambiguous with that statement, what I meant was that PS gives you a lot more control over your post processing, I found Lightroom to be too restrictive, although I do use lightroom for a couple of techniques (vignetting and such) it just doesn't give me the controls I need for the rest.

And as for what it is, it is more for professional photographers who want to sort and bulk edit shots, which PS isn't very good at. I would still say PS is better for your needs, although the best way to find out would be to try both, and see which is better for the way you work. (Adobe do a free 30day trial so you can see if you like it, I would suggest having a look).

What I really want to know is why Lightroom uses so many resources.

Ok I have decided to convert my NTL dumping ground into somthing more organised.

What you think. Its only a quick fix. Until someone can do one better for me.:D

Here it is. There are no links yet as its late and Im at work at 6am.

Not sure what colours to go for?

Have a look at some galery software too, makes showing your pictures a lot easier. :)

Havent actually done much with this photo. All I altered was the colour in the sky. It was a bright time of day for me and thats how I got thestrong shadows.

Damn house is in view. I wish that towel flapped slightly to cover it up.
