Finally decided to buy my first printer. My first project will be to print holders for network equipment so I can hang it all on the wall.
After doing a bit of reading up think will go for Bambu Lab make as they are easiest to start with, would like some input on what to go for. I've looked and A1 seems like a good model to go for, would there be much sense for me to push the budget and go with higher models ?

The A1 and A1 mini are great first printers. It's great with PLA and PETG and can be upgraded with the AMS lite if you want to go multi coloured.

The P1S is a must if you want to print ASA or ABS.

That depends. Do you think you’d need to print more than PLA or PETG? If no then the A1 should do all you want. You can still, at least, try and print filaments like ABS/ASA on open printers, I have with some success, but it’s not worth the hassle imo.

If Bambu printers had been around when I got into 3D printing, I’d have bought the A1.

^this. I've owned an A1 for a month or so and it's the best thing I've bought in years.

Not interested in ABS/ASA so I think I'll go with A1. Not interested in printing multi colour so I guess AMS lite is not needed or is it worth getting anyways, does it help with feeding the filament ?
While I'm ordering is there any necessary upgrade/accessory I should order from Bambu ? Filament wise, I understand PLA is good for test prints and PETG for final print. Is Bambu filament quality good or should I look to order from elsewhere ?

Thanks for your input @Diddums @martos123 as well, much appreciated.

@oggiet i don’t print much in the way of multi colour prints but what I love about the AMS is you have 4 filaments ready to go without having to manually load.

I like their Matte PLA but not used any other of their filaments.

Yes, you can load up four of the same colour and it'll automatically swap over when one is empty. I'd get the AMS anyway if budget permits, it really makes life a lot easier and trust me when I tell you this, once you've printed a few bits, you'll want to print tons more and having the ability to print multiple colours is something you will get to eventually, it's only a matter of time.

Filament wise, we've only printed in PLA so far, and it's been fantastic. We've even printed ice scrapers for the car and they work really well.

As for upgrades, no, nothing. If you're ordering the 4-pack of filaments keep in mind that you only get two reels, so you can only use two at a time. One of the first things I did was order more filament, and made sure they have the reels.

You're going to end up printing a few bits which are very helpful, like a poop bucket which collects all the bits that the printer would otherwise spit out all over the place.

I've only had Bambu filament so far which has been fantastic, it comes with an RFID tag which tells the printer what's loaded which other brands might not have, and it makes printing very simple.

Their black friday deal is really good, glad I got it :)

I'm using Sunlu pla+ with my mini and have gone through about 8 spools without issue. Bambu studio esun pla+ profile works a treat.

Ok ordered it all , A1 with ams lite and some filament spools. Appreciate all your help, will report how I get on with it. :)

Another question please. I live in West Sussex, it's on the coast. Normal humidity in the house is around 56%, will this be problem printing ?

@oggiet nice little project for you to help reduce moisture in your filaments.

Thank you, will definitely print that.
I will keep printer in my server room which has temp higher than rest of the house, I'm thinking of keeping air dehumidifier in there when printing..... hopefully will help with humidity.
Only recently moved to the coast, before that lived in London which humidity was too low

Humidity nothing to worry about while printing it’s more when storing unless your printing 24/7.. that solution is a bit overkill tbh.

Just be careful leaving filament unpacked for days on end or leaving it loaded in Bowden tubes (the white tubes that go to and from the ams for example). After few days might become brittle and crack.

If filament starts to become brittle and stringy when printing dry them out.
