After replacing what turned out to be a bad stick of ram, I was easily able to get to 4GHz... which makes me really happy. Is this all good?

Thought I'd see what she could do without raising voltage and made it this far. What's a safe temp for 24/7 use? I know I could push it further, but my main concern is finding the max USUABLE clock that won't reduce life too much. Looks like I got a good chip though :D

EDIT: Oh yeah, temps in orthos blend test never go over 47 so just IBT I guess. My RAM is running 1:1 at 479FSB (so 958MHz DDR) so is running below it's rated speed. Timings are 5-5-5-15 at 1066MHz so is it worth tightening them up a bit at the lower speed? If so, what to?

Temps are still fine on that, well under limit, probably due to the low vcore for that clock, very nice.

I would suggest using max stress lvl and 20 runs, to really make sure its stable though.

Still nice overclock and temps though, allways remember IBT will really heat ur cpu up, so day to day running temps will be far far far lower.

I'm gonna try to lower it one more click so I can say I made it to 4.3 on stock volts lol. Will run further stress when it's not stupidly late. Any ideas on the RAM timings? Thanks for the feedback :)

Ermm no idea what ur memory is brand or default timmings wise.

Best way is to find ur overclock ur comfy with. Then when u know the fsb ur gonna be using, drop the multi right down to 6, so cpu is'nt being heavily clocked.

And test with different timmings, being over 900mhz id probably say timings wise 5,5,5,15(18) would be best, unless u have some really high quality ram.

I do :) I have 2 x 2Gb Corsair Dominator PC8500, which runs at 1066 5-5-5-15 @2.1V. For some reason my BIOS has it at 5-5-5-18 right now, and rather than jump the multi way up I'd rather just tighten up the timings, but have no idea what the hell I'm doing there. Obviously dropping to 5-5-5-15 will be my first step, but after that? Or I could just leave a good thing as it is :p

if volts are set to what there supposed to, and there running at or under rated speed then changing the 18 to 15 should be fine, but ofcourse make sure u save the OC profile just incase.

They probably will run much tighter, but thats a lot of testing, so yeh just try above, should work.
