It was just comfirmed to me that i have 6 months of work!! hiyaa :p
I work at Syderal, it's a small hardware/software development enterprise(~50 people) that makes devices to be used in satellites.

I'm really happy because i have done 2.5 months here but i was doing my degree so now it's nearly finished (i have to do the final overview of my work on the 19th) then i'm done, so i have a job directly from the 1st of july!! I was not paid for this part.

I've been offered 2262£ per month as my first salary, my job is software development i have a degree, it's the step before engineer, i dont really now the system in England i guess it must be quite the same. Anyways i've been checking the salary on the Internet for my job and found out i'm paid approximatively 250£ less than the average but i think it's good for my first job as i have no experience at all beside the one i acquired here.

I must say i accepted even with that salary, it's really good for me being at my parents still so i don't spend too much! And the job is really interesting too. I'm feeling really lucky :D

But I'm wondering if you would have accepted as well for your first job or not ?

2 262£? What's that, £2262PA or monthly? If monthly that's awesome for a first time job.

First job was writing Lotus 1-2-3 macros for a pensions company, £10/hour.

This was when £10 was considered a lot of money.

:)

i cant work out what salery your on??
£2262 a year? or £262 a week or month?

Is that before or after tax? either way it's not bad for a first salary, especially if you're still living at your parents!

Just make sure you save a reasonable amount instead of drinking it all away XD

I work for an oil company so I get paid a lot more for my first year :) And it goes up :)

Typically your looking at £22,000-£28,000ish for a graduate software developer job in the south (there are exceptions to this rule). So your on a decent amount there.

Oil company, you found the good job! You are going to get rich soon

My first job after graduating was for £14.5k

Consider yourself overpaid.

:)

That's good then ;)

hmm you would not happen to be Mr^B from Savage League would you?

Do you have to work off-shore much?

No most of my work is office based, I have been to cyprus, malta and egypt with work this year and I am in spain at the end of the month then holland the month after, so a fair amount of it is overseas.

When I move contract I think most of it will be overseas.

My first job, at the age of 18, was £2000 p/a as a junior programmer, LOL

I'm glad I left South Africa :D
