I should finally be moving away from IDE this week. I'll just be using the new drive as a single drive setup. Is a floppy drive needed for windows installation, or is that only for raid setups? I'm using a MSI K8N Diamond motherboard.

You probably will do just fine on the included Windows drivers.

The K8N Diamond is nForce4 based so you'll be able to set the SATA ports up to run in single drive mode in the BIOS. In that mode Windows will see the drive natively during the install process.

depends if your board has on board sata driver chip/thing.n other wsie you need drivers on disc
If you're extremely concerned why not get a USB floppy drive? I use mine quite frequently. It's paid for itself in usefulness and portability.

buy a 4-Pin Molex to Floppy FDD Power Adapter Cable and save u some money buying a psu
or if you know how to do it. rewire the floppy power cable into a 4 pin molex
