Hey all, recently attempted to upgrade my graphics card on my computer and it just didnt work, i think my core parts are a bit old. so decided to try building my own to fit the graphic card.

I've never built a pc from parts before, ive been through what OCUK has to offer and came up with the following.

i dont have much of a budget to work with about £450 :s

tell me what you think and what you think i could change bare in mind me meagre funds

also could you tell me if all the parts are compatible and what addition cables i will need :)

  • Asus TM-261 Case - Black/Silver
  • OCZ ModXStream Pro 400w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Modular Power Supply
  • Asus M3A78-EM AMD 780G (Socket AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
  • AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 920 2.8GHz (Socket AM2+)
  • Asus ATI Radeon HD 3650 Vcool Silent 512MB DDR2 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (AGP)
  • Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel
  • Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM
  • Samsung TS-H353B 16x DVD-ROM SATA
  • Akasa AK-876 CPU Cooler
i have the Radeon HD 3650 graphics card, and can get the RAM
will be running VISTA home premium 32-bit

would be greatful for your input

You really want 4 gig of RAM for running vista, it'll be mighty slow on 2gig, Id recomend you upgrade to 64bit vista so you can use all your memory (RAM + gfx), you can get an upgrade disc from microsoft for the cost of p&p, about £7, and just to confirm then the 450 is excuding the gfx and RAM? And have you already got the RAM?

EDIT:

Ok so the first one didnt work...let's try this:

As you can see, I went for 4GB RAM which will work well with Vista...especially x64 as mentioned earlier...also the CPU is an Athlon X2 (disguised as a Phenom II in fact!) but its one of the best going in that range...but u have plenty of room to get an X4 seeing as u said u have a graphics card already but I would say the 4670 would sort u out no problem...also the case is an Antec 300 and comes with a 550W PSU which will be better for u too...see what u think :D
