Hi guys this is my first time building a gaming pc, hence the title. I don't really know much about computers so I decided to come on here for some help :). I am using this computer for only a couple of games; World Of Warcraft and Minecraft. At the minute I have a computer but it doesn't run either very well. I just want to play the games at a decent frame-rate, so I can record videos etc. I have about £500 budget.

Thanks Guys,

Alright so you won't need an OS, but do you know if the drives you have now - HDDs and optical drives - are sata? If so, you can re-use them in this new build and save some more money.

You can just look inside and see by the cables connecting the dsic drive and the hard drive(s). If you don't know what they look like, just look them up on Google Images and see if they match :)

EDIT: 320Gb? For now I'd recommend sticking with that, HDDs prices are pretty crazy right now so just wait until they drop back down so you can grab yourself some more storage space. That's if they are SATA, of course. :)

Also there's someone else with a similar request, you may want to take a look here, where some good specs have been posted, if you want to be buying the parts now: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18348444

to be fair, id rather buy a new hdd as this one doesnt have the capacity id like it to have :)
and optical drives ill check them out in a second :)

Alright that's your choice, but I'd really re-consider that; HDD prices have nearly trippled due to floods in Thailand, where they're primarily produced. A 1TB HDD will take a big chunk out of your budget, but you could always go for lower capacity for about £70.

Top is IDE, bottom is SATA :)

assuming ur hdd and optical are sata and that u have windows, you could do something like this?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £124.99
1 x Intel Core i3-2100 3.10GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £94.99
1 x MSI Z68A-G43-G3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £94.98
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L7 530W '80 Plus' Power Supply £39.98
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £39.95
1 x BitFenix Merc Alpha Gaming Case - Black £32.99
Total : £442.88 (includes shipping : £12.50).

I'm sure someone will come and spec a better system up :-) lol

^ Might as well bump those up to a 6870 and i3 2120 :P

Personally I would also take the Z68AP, £20 cheaper and still allows for a good 4x/4x crossfire if you ever need a second GPU for extra oomf.

Haha I'm sure if Alex watches a few tutorials he'll be perfectly capable of assembling his own PC...I hope :D

lets see if the hdd and optical drives are sata before doing that :-)

Good point :D

Also I noticed they no longer sell the £130 HIS 6870. Bummer :( Would have been great for his budget.

i2500k £170
gigabyte z68ap-d3 £85
Kingston hyperx genesis grey 4gb pc3-12800 1600mhz £22
cm slient pro 600w £60 may go upto £72 tomorrow as the £60 is ment to be a sunday evening offer price
cm elite 430 £40
his 6870 icq x plus £150

if you buy a coolermaster case and 500w or 600w of the silent pro modular psu you get £20 off the psu

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18347004

get a CPU cooler in the future so you can overclock the CPU, the intel stock does allow you to oc but 3rd party cooler keeps the CPU cooler.

spidey sense is tingling - probably safer buying pre-built

that what I was thinking :)
