Im going to be selling my Xbox and Mobile on Ebay but this is my first time using Ebay so i have no feedback at all.

Anybody got any tips for selling on Ebay, what to write in descriptions and so forth and how to avoid the scams.

I got myself a verified Uk paypal account so im half way there :)

Also, when i accept a transfer using paypal how do i know they cant take the money back, how do i know when the money is truley mine?

Youl have no problem if you describe well, and have good pictures.

Dont expect amazing amounts of money without feedback.

You know when you have the money when its transfered to your bank account

Just that i hear horror stories of people haven money taken back from them after they accepted the paypal payment.

Is it the normal to not send the items till the money is safley in my account?

Yes, make sure the money is in your bank account, not your paypal account. Any problems will be flagged up in the time between sending from paypal and it landing in your bank account.

make sure you take pics of the atcual item and not use stock ones aswell :) - I found this helped me when I was new on ebay

Unless the buyer starts a chargeback/dispute after a month or two and PayPal generally rule in the buyers favour, the PayPal a/c goes in to the -ve and they send the debt collectors round.

Very true, but that's not something you can avoid if paypal rule that way.

Do yourself a favour, and check that any bidders and buyers don't have masses of negative feedback.

you will be selling 2 things that attract a lot of attention from overseas scammers.

just be careful who is bidding and who finally wins.

state that you wont send outside of the UK tbh.

When selling you want to make sure the following are set properly.

Post-to locations - UK, or wherever else you want to post.
Set your Buyer requirements as tightly as you dare, for minimum hassle - here are the full options:
* Buyers in countries to which I don't ship
* Buyers with a negative feedback score
* Buyers with Unpaid Item strikes
* Buyers who may bid on several of my items and not pay for them
* Buyers without a PayPal account
* Buyers with no credit card on file

no they wont

Ok Thanks for the tips guys, I gotta start writing a nice fancy description with unique words :).

Also whats the best way to post the items?

As an Xbox with 50 odd games is a little heavy.

It's happened in the past to people.

Not that I'm saying it's a certainty (or even particularly likely)

edit: I probably shouldn't have used the word "automatically" in my post but they do seem to often rule in favour of the buyer even when the seller is not in the wrong.

I sent one with 8 games via ParceForce 48hr for about £8 I think it was, fully insured and it arrived safely.

Has this actually happened though, when the seller did no wrong but the buyer still claimed money back?

It seems rather... illegal, for Paypal to take the seller's money without so much as a shread of proof to cooberate the buyer's claims AND wihtout so much as contacting the seller.

I know a couple of people (i.e. really know, not have heard of) who have had paypal claims against them even when they have done no wrong. Paypal make decisions according to their own rules, which can beggar belief.

Ok was looking through the Buyer Requirements.

Ive selected to block People from countries where i dont ship and people who have more than 2 unpaid item strikes.

but "Buyers with a negative feedback score"

Should i turn that on and set it at 1 or 3?

Ok before i hit the submit button, does this seem ok?
