Did your 4770k not come with a stock cooler? What I did was build it in the case, but I didn't do any cable management until I was sure it booted and only then did I go ahead and tidy everything up! Then it's a lot easier to take it apart if something's DOA

that sounds good to me but every build guide I've seen said build it ouside then if it works put it in. I do have the stock cooler so i suppose i could put that on to test

Never once built it outside case always do it inside.

i done mine in the case, i just used the basics to install the drivers and windows, then done all my cable management, and then fitted my storage drive for games and apps etc.

Build in the case Use the stock cooler first

as some of the others, I built it inside the case first and then did cable management once I knew everything was working.
those specs look awesome by the way! and the kingston hyper X has got to be the best looking SSD around (IMO)

Sorry I've not posted in a wile. I've assembled a test bench and fitted most of the parts into the case!

One question? Should I install a liquid cooler before the os because the instructions say I need to install software before hardware.

Plug in all the cables for the cooler, just not the USB header lead, when you power the system up the fans will run at full speed. Install the OS after the OS is installed and booted correctly install the Kraken software, then switch your system off and plug in the USB header into the motherboard, then switch the system back on. Windows will then recognize the cooler and you should then see the LED lights come on and the fans should be running at a slower pace and controlled by the software!

Oh and you have a Kraken, just for your info I have read reports that if you power it from your motherboard it may fry it. Google it, various sources say the same thing. I have powered mine directly from the PSU.

I'm having some trouble loading windows as I've never done it before however my main worry is that the kraken fans are spinning but it doesn't look as if the pump is on. This is probably because I don't have the usb header plugged in but the warnings say cpu fan error and processor overheat. I'm really worried that it may overheat before windows is installed. Any tips? Can't find boot from external drive anywhere in rog bios

Im not sure about the CPU overheat, but I have a RoG board and I set mine up how I suggested in my last post above, after reading all about them.

However your not using the cpu fan header as your using a water cooler, so you have to switch that option off in the bios. That will then allow you system to boot into window.

As you have it at the moment your system thinks the cpu fan/cooler is broken because it cant read that there is a fan connected.

Edited to say I think in the bios you need to go to Monitor> Fan Speed Monitor> CPU Fan Speed and change it to [Ignore] This should allow your system to boot!

Also if you mean booting from an external CD drive that should just be in your boot options, just have it plugged in and remove your HDD's from the list!

If you think the pump isn't running on the Kraken then definitely don't run it. If the coolant temperature gets too high it can cause leaks.

Use the stock cooler to get Windows installed and check everything else is working.

That is some seriously helpful info! I'll give it a try next time I'm home! It will be a few days guys but I've got some photos I'll post soon and and the evga backplate mod to do aswell!
